Andrew Klavan often talks about this exact insight about gender roles. Klavan points out that there are many people who can replace a woman at her job but no one can replace her as the mother to her children. My husband and I have lived in traditional roles and (tried) to live in equal split of roles. We are always happier living according to traditional roles ❤.

I appreciate what you say, and love your channel because of your stance. I'm part of the generation that rejected the female role ( a "boomer"), and now see how that wasn't the best part of my life. In fact, when I was raising my children, I felt a lot of guilt and shame for not using my work skills. If I would have embraced femininity, I would not have suffered all that guilt. Honestly, it's taken into my 60's to realize putting my children first and my family first was the best thing to do.

Love this video. The Lord did not give us children to raise. Our only child died at 3 days old. We married in 1981, I affectionately put hubby through seminary. Then until 2009 I worked outside of the home. In 2009 I quit my job, started teaching sewing lessons and after that came to a close I have simply been my husband's full-time helper. We wish we would have done it years sooner, but later is better than never. I love being home, taking care of our home and being available to help him in any way. I'm also more accessible to the girls and women in the church he pastors. God bless you for making that decision early on and speaking God's Word into the lives of others.❤

I was a career woman my whole life and the Lord called me to be a homemaker last winter. After a difficult transition I’m finally a homemaker- and I’m single! I find that it was a test of faith to believe Gods providence in stepping into this season by faith believing He would provide a husband by being my Husband first. God is amazing! Anyway I just want to say that it is a huge step of faith when we step back into sound Bibilical doctrines about gender roles but every command has a promise attached to it and God is true and His word never fails. Hi Kelli, this message can't be repeated often enough. I figured out a lot of it from my own drive to be a wife and mom and my studies, but never ever heard it in the "churches" and definitely not at home. Thanks for all you and Scott do.

Bible is VERY clear about women preaching. Glad I don't have to deal with that in MY church! But I do hear parishioners bring it up every now & then, weighing the merits of it. & we DO have to deal with VERY bossy women that like to act like they are running things. You are really lucky, kelli. I BELIEVE you when you talk about God not 'wasting seasons' & that you were doing all you did with the purest of intentions to please the Lord. How blessed is that? just be glad you weren't like me who was doing ALL she could to mock God, as a young person, trying to expose God as a fraud or at the very least, a non influential entity! I look back on my youth & cringe. I HAVE repented of all that nonsense & I DO believe that I have been forgiven, but it was so damaging. I think of all the others that I damaged in the process, or that maybe I helped to turn away/prevent from knowing the Lord. I do know now that God was walking right alongside me, but man what a broken, broken hearted, shameful person I was. I guess if he could convert Paul, no heart is too hard, right? I have tried to prevent my daughters from going down the same path & I thought I was doing pretty well, but this world is a hard one to raise young women in. I am afraid that I haven't done as well as I had hoped, as witnessed by some of their behaviors. I feel very sad inside (& have been praying, unceasingly) that the one has chosen to partner herself with an unbeliever (with many troublesome attributes). I see much of the same pain heading her way. & at this point she is an adult & there is not much I can do about it - her father & I have talked until we are blue in the face, laid out consequences, she has suffered consequences.... We have confronted the young man over & over. You are right about there not being enough guidance for younger women. & unfortunately, young people DON'T like to listen to their parents & mine are surrounded by bad examples & older women that live not-so-great lives.

I am 38, got married in 2020. And this year I am starting seeing same things what you are saying. In my case I got sick I was burned out and needed a lot of rest. So I stayed home, how it changed our marriage, it changed me and is still changing. I am realizing in what kind of fruit God is interested in us women. World doesn’t value this but God does. He wants us to love our husbands , do good needs to the community. We represent the Church the bride. To nutritious, to be hospitable. Modest and pure. The world influences us in every way. I am encouraged to see more women are starting seeing God’s prescriptions as the authorities .❤

What an encouragement it is to hear about the transformations of your beliefs and how you then choose to live out that faith. God’s Word should be the foundation for church culture. So cool to hear what you're saying on this topic. This is encouraging! For so long we were calling ourselves complimentarian but realized we were actually observing and growing in patriarchy. It's so relieving to embrace our God created roles and to learn what it is that God created us for.

Great video. The most important point you shared in this video is the five minutes or so where you describe the downside to what happens to a woman's psyche when she is a "missions" based person and how this reverses gender roles according to God's word. It's not often said, but a woman's "mission" in life and in the body of Christ is to be a mother and wife. THIS IS HER MISSION FROM GOD. In VERY RARE cases and circumstances, women may be called into ministry in the body of Christ in a more official or 'outreach' related capacity, but even then, it is to play second to their God given calling of being a mother and wife. Women are very seldom called to ministry, and even then, it's within the context of her family life. Nowhere in scripture do we see God or Jesus or the Holy Spirit giving women the same mandates as the men in the early church. Even in that famous verse about what may have to be forsaken for the sake of the Kingdom of God, it gets really detailed naming, houses, brothers, sister, fathers, mothers, wife or children or lands... but NEVER says "husbands." Isn't that interesting?!!! The gospel and the calling may cost a man his lands, or even his house and maybe even children or wife, but NOWHERE does it say that a woman's "calling" for the sake of the gospel will ever leader her in a direction in which it will "cost" her her husband. I've even heard "Christian" women say that they had to leave their husbands and get divorces because of their "calling" or ministry. That is total deception and a complete lie. Never will God tell a woman to leave her husband. To even have come to the point where women believe God would do that, or where that kind of excuse is even tolerated shows just how far we've come and how bad the deception really is. I honestly believe that most of these women who believe it's "God" telling them to do these things don't know God at all, and most of them are not even born again.

A lot of what you say resonates with me, even though I’m a non practicing Roman Catholic. I get the male/female roles as you describe them and agree with this viewpoint. I have worked for twenty years and been depressed, struggling to go to work every day in a very stressful job. I married and had a child at forty, and we have battled a lot over chores. Things have settled a lot since I’ve embraced home making more, but I do work out of the home part time and I find it hard to juggle both. My husbands does traditionally male roles around the home, but I do the rest and find it so frustrating he can’t even put a dish in the dishwasher. Do you find yourself taking on emotional stress because you work hard to make the home nice and it’s disrespected by things like your husband leaving stuff around? How do you deal with that? God has taught me great patience in life, but even my patience is tried by this.

God is not to be tested & why make him work overtime on us, when sometimes the risk could be avoided? That is wisdom I have gained with age. Teens & early 20s don't really grasp that, I don't think. Hi Kelli! Forgive me, but I am confused when you talk about your husband's "mission". I thought the Bible says our mission is to fight our sin nature and live lives that display the fruits of the Spirit, while sharing the gospel. Wives are to submit to and respect our husbands, while husbands are to love their wives. Employees are to work for their bosses as unto the Lord. We are to be generous and care for the poor, orphans, and widows. I'm not sure God cares what job/career our husbands have as long as we strive to live lives pleasing the the Lord. So, once again, I don't understand what you mean by your husband's mission. Maybe you have talked about this in a previous video...I will look. Thanks!

I get where you're coming from. I was the same in my teens and twenties. At 52, I have learned that I am and always will be an introvert. The Rockefeller Women’s Liberation movement has ruined society. Yes, we are equal in salvation in God's eyes. Otherwise, we each bring something special to a relationship. I bought into this mindset that women can and should set their path. What wasn't encouraged was marriage and family. I grew up as a child watching Little House On The Prairie. I loved it. Then, in the late 80s and early 90s came Roseanne. Don't get nervous wrong, Dan and Rosanne characters are more like the average American family. Too much like them. The women are taking the lead. It's chaos. Two incomes "needed" to keep a house going. Now I understand that the husband is supposed to be head of the house. Men are supposed to be Charles Ingles. Head of the home. I understand that women are supposed to be women. If we were supposed to be men, God would make us men.

I’ve watched this whole video, and here are my thoughts. I agree that there are Biblical responsibilities outlined in scripture for gender. But scripture also calls ALL Christian’s to the great commission. That is Androgynous! Additionally, your relationship with God, and how you cultivate that is androgynous! Being male or female, doesn’t matter in terms of relationship with God because we are than just all sons and daughters, with one Father. We are children of God. That is androgynous. It seems that there are two extremes that I am seeing played out in this video, where two groups can fall in a ditch by overgeneralizing. One group over generalizes the gifts of the Holy Spirit for androgynous purposes. The other group over generalizes the distinction of gender roles to the point of putting Gods creation in boxes. Both are in a ditch, so what is the balanced straight and narrow path? I would go to scripture and search two topics: church + home only from the New Testament scriptures as they pertain to the guidelines of life with emphasis on the Holy Spirit after Christs death. One of the main roles of the Holy Spirit is Helper. The Holy Spirit is there to empower us in ministry, and in our roles. The word of God is also the living Word. It is active. Christians today have both tools. So in the Scriptures where it talks about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the fruit of the Holy Spirit…. You can read that literally in the Bible and then ask the Holy Spirit to speak to you about whether that is gender specific or not and wait on the Holy Spiritual for an answer or He gives you peace of what He shows you in the Word. When it comes to roles in marriage, and in parenting…. find it in scripture and then ask the Holy Spirit your questions. The Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity and has many distinct roles for the Christian. If you don’t have understanding about his roles then you are missing out a lot in Christianity when it comes to decisions/crossroads. Holy Spirit actually guides you to what the will of the Father is. The point is “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” if you seek God for answers on clarity in your own journey through life with all your heart…..He WILL show you. He will show you in the way that you will understand personally. To some that is the scripture, to some it could be a butterfly in a garden, to some, it could be through another person. In other words, God will meet you where you are, and not in a box for your answer. Just look in the Bible, all the creative ways that God answered people’s questions both in the Old Testament and New Testament. It’s very inspiring.
