@aaronlandry39343 жыл бұрын
@@hapolla0064 Representative of baby Jesus (which is also why it’s a *King* Cake). This is because Mardi Gras is meant as a festival of indulgence before Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent, a time of fasting and prayerfulness in Catholicism. Getting a piece of King Cake with the baby in it means that you have to buy the next King Cake for the next party (Mardi Gras is like a month long holiday with parades, balls, lots of parties, and Fat Tuesday itself turns New Orleans into one large parade route/bar). Festive beads are thrown from every float and sometimes festive masks as well, which look something like Jester masks. If ever you’re in New Orleans for Fat Tuesday, do not drive to the parades, because parking will be impossible and drunk drivers are very common during Mardi Gras. Uber may cost a bit more, but it’s worth it. Also, open containers are a-ok in New Orleans (pot is decriminalized also).
