I love that you had your daughter kind of “catch up” with some Year 1-3 readings. That is exactly what I am doing right now. 😊 We also use Sonlight so I am trying not to overwhelm her. But she LOVES reading, so she is doing just fine.

Yes!! They're such rich books I just didn't want to pass all them up 😆 a year later we're basically caught up and the literature pieces I figure she can circle back and maybe read them out loud to her little brothers when they're in year 1 or 2 if she wants! She also likes to read ❤️😍

I am a Charlotte Mason inspired, literature based, eclectic homeschooler! I had to go back and watch these hauls for your Year 4. We love the Picture studies too.

I will be following more of a Charlotte Mason style this coming school year than I have ever done. I'm planning to use some of Simply Charlotte Mason. I'm also interested in learning more about Ambleside online.

So much fun! My daugher watches out for the postman all day when we have a box of curriculum arriving.Gotta make sure we stock up for summer reads or we wont have any currriculum for next year lol.Great video I share your joy for reading and curriculum cant wait to finish our hauls as well ❤

We used The Good and The Beautiful this last school year. Units Mammals as well as Ocean Biology I felt it was a bit teacher intensive. We all purchased extra books that go with them. I felt I had to to do a lot of extra videos and activities like coloring and books from library as well as a lot of planning to keep it exciting for us. My kids are 9 and 12. We are switching curriculum for science next school year. I would not say we didn’t care for it, although we did not love it either. However, I do really like the handwriting curriculum and we will continue with those. Thanks for sharing a peek into your school work!❤

I was wondering how you read everything without getting things mixed up. How would you read the island story and not get confused when you talk about a different period of time in history with the Roman’s and such? I hope that makes sense!

Yes! I wondered the same thing and last year was our first year popping in and out of different books and we tracked it all! According to Charlotte Mason it's most important in the elementary age to hear and read good stories even if timeline isn't as clear. We will look at what centuries the books are from but their understanding can be sketchy with timeline awareness at this age. And our enrichment studies like poet, musician, artists are also in different historic times and it's OK! However, Lit and history I try to keep the same and the Island Story where we read was in ancient history! Hope that helps ❤️

Finally catching up while nursing in peace 😂love seeing how similar we do things! Im doing research on both history and science. We did one unti study from the good and the beautiful...eh ok. This past semester we have done nature studies and all 3 of the kiddos love it! Easy to geer it for all ages but looking for another option this yr. And we did Beautiful Feet for American History but looking at either Mystery of History or SCM history curriculum 😊we can hash it all out together during our visit ❤❤❤

We too are Charlotte Mason inspired homeschoolers. We also use SCM for most things. We also use TGATB for science and handwriting and my girls love and I love both curriculums👍🏻

It took us about four years to figure out what works good for us as well, still getting some kinks out haha. How did I not know about the living book press?! I have the burgess bird book for children but didn’t realize they printed out of print books. Now I gotta go check them out haha.

I also actually love TGATB science units. We adapt the student pages to just a narration of what we learned and draw a picture. So I basically don't use the student sheets lol but the science is great and fun.

We use a lot of SCM things and I'm about to graduate my second from our homeschool. You asked about the Shakespeare plays and I would say you chose a safer one for your age children. Some of them are pretty scandalous so just beware of that as you choose going forward with your age children. 🥰

We love SCM as well! We've been using their artist studies, composures, math, and we're going to test out using Spelling Wisdom next year. I was thinking of getting their Shakespeare guides/plays when we're done going through the retellings. I hope you can do a review of it next year :) TGTB science is....okay. We liked Botany and Birds, but we really didn't like Geology, Mammals, and...another one I can't remember. I much preferred doing the Simple Studies units and adding on to those. We also do Ambleside, and I love all of the literature! I'm so sad I missed the Living Book Press sale. I got MOST of our books already, but I had a few left to grab. We purchased from them and New West Press last year (and Thriftbooks and BookOutlet).

TGATB science, in my opinion, is nice, but it isn't really 'living book', if that's what you are looking for. The text reads more like a textbook, I found, and heavy on vocab/definitions. I didn't feel they narrated easily. Just my 2 cents. Many love them, though, and they do have interesting info!

This is helpful! I ordered a Nature Book from Living Book Press that I'm waiting for and I'm hoping that will be what I'm looking for to enrich that area of study a little bit. I def don't like to be bogged down by textbook style 😄 thanks for sharing your opinion!

Yes! It's going to be a reading summer for me! Haha. I'm going to preread her independent ones not the family read out louds. Silverlining, I figure I just need to do this once for my oldest then I'll know them. I plan to speed read and if I can find some on audio, listen too!

Hey! Fellow Wisconsinite here! 😅 I’ve been learning and reading about CM and going in that direction for our 23-24 school year. I’m planning to use SCM for the first time so I’m anxious to see your Spelling Wisdom and Using Language Well video! I think it’s going to be a good fit for my rising 4th grader along with lots of literature! Reading with my kids is my (and theirs) favorite! We have used TGTB science Unit but only the old version where they don’t have student workbooks. I’m a tad afraid we aren’t going to like the revised version, but I am planning to try one unit and see if we like it.

Another homeschooling Wisconsinite here. We have used TGATB science units and loved them. I am planning on using some of their younger student items as I am starting over with a preschooler (homeschool my granddaughter starting in the fall). I am also HS my high school ages youngest daughter.

@@hannahgravelle it is! I didn’t homeschool my kiddos until middle school and high school so this is a whole new world. I also was not introduced to Charlotte Mason until recently so this is going to be new and fun for all of us I think.
