Doing Life Deliberately so... does MFW not include language or math in this grade ? Am I understanding properly ? First grade ? So I would need to buy those seperate ?
@DoingLifeDeliberately4 жыл бұрын
LeeAnne Hazel , yes! You would need to add a language arts and math curriculum. MFW has suggestions on what to use, but you can use anything you are comfortable with for those subjects. We have used Saxon Math and Teaching Textbooks for math and loved both. We used First Language Lessons and Writing With Ease (together) for Language Arts. I have made video reviews of all 3 of these curriculums, if you are interested in learning more.

We're on our 1st year using mfw (Adventures) and really enjoyed it. It helps to find a complimentary LA & we LOVE Language Lessons for a Living Education. As for the student sheets I'd disagree with all the prep work. I left them together then every wknd it takes me 2min to pull the next week's out and hole punch them. Some people get hanging files and spend ton of time doing that. But it's already in order, so helpful! :)

I think I might use this next year. I’ll be homeschooling my 12, 10 and 5 year old. I was a little worried about how to combine the ages (especially since my oldest has autism). About how long is an average ‘school’ day with MFW?
@DoingLifeDeliberately5 жыл бұрын
AmorMio42, Thanks for watching!! The “average question” is tough because there are so many variables to consider.... how much you assign, the motivation of your kids, the day’s environment & interruptions.... I would say most days that we did MFW 8-12 and had the bulk of the work done by noon. The kids still had some things to wrap up and electives to complete.

Do you have any experience with the 7th and 8th grade add ons for the Investigate cycle?
@DoingLifeDeliberately6 жыл бұрын
What add ons are you referring to? Are you talking about electives like Spanish? Or are you referring to making certain subjects more grade appropriate for 7th and 8th? My oldest has done MFW through 9th grade.

Doing Life Deliberately the 7th & 8th grade supplement that they sell to add on to exploring countries and cultures. www.mfwbooks.com/item/11882/7th-8th-Grade-ECC-Supplement/

Thank you!! We did NOT use this supplement for my oldest. I personally have read Bruchko and it is definitely worth the read. If you feel your student will not be challenged enough with the contents of the Deluxe package, then this could be a great addition. But you may find the contents of the deluxe package are adequate or that you can adapt them to be more challenging (ex. create your own extra writing assignment) on your own. Blessings!!
