An education that teaches you what it is to be human is exactly the counterweight we need in this AI transhumanist bound world!

Kipling’s poetry is great. I think even if you don’t enjoy his novels, you might still enjoy his poems.

I’m just thrilled to be homeschooling this coming year. I’ve been pushing him very hard the whole year; it’s time to relax and reconnect with my son before we start homeschool! I hope Martin gets to read this- 😉 I may have boys after his own heart…..we live on 80 acres with a creek running through it. They are gone for hours killing snakes (poisonous only of course) and getting filthy. They LOVE camping. And one is one the last chapter of his second read through the Counte of Monte Cristo and the other read two of Louis L’Amour novels just this week. We finished all the Sacketts so he had to move on to his other westerns. 😊

The summer is hard for me as a homeschool mom I for sure fall in the category of people who gets anxious and I want to keep going and get ahead but I have to remind myself first how healthy and powerful it is for my kids be out and playing in the yard and I also think back to your other memoria press video I don't remember the title but you say to remember the material is geared for certain ages for a reason and that we don't need to get ahead of ourselves it's okay to just enjoy life that's a part of the classical life too it's not all academics it is for the whole person and the whole person needs time out of doors as well as the good books Love this podcast happy summer 🌞

You are so right that we can no longer turn kids loose in the library. I remember several years ago, before i was introduced to the world of classical education, being at the library with my daughter and letting her choose what she wanted me to read to her. She chose a novel based on a cartoon she'd seen. We bring it home and it's the most idiotic nonsense, with words like "totes". I said honey I'm sorry but we're not reading this, it's an atrocity against literature lol. We ended up choosing The Neverending Story from our own bookshelf.
