I’m so grateful for all your videos on MBTP!! We started bc of your videos and are on our 3rd unit and everyone is loving it!! ❤❤ I’d love to see a flip through or do a lesson for science and social studies from 9-11 as we’ve only done the LA. Again, thanks for all your videos!! ❤

I commented on your 4th grade video, but 10-12 was one of our FAVORITES! we didn't do every unit, by our 3rd or 4th year with them we knew we could NOT do them all, so we chose about 75% of the units in a level with my kiddo's input. He ALWAYS chose all the science units (his FAVORITE!), and about half the LA, then I would have to fill in with the SS and a few more LA units to round out the line up. This level had some really great stuff. I am looking at it again now, 4 years later for my youngest coming up to this age range. She SHOULD love mbtp. she loves projects and LOVES the types of activities, especially writing that mbtp includes. but for some reason it has never resonated with her. she kind of likes the to the point, get it done curriculum and not as much 'extras' like mbtp tends to include. I am HOPING she might come around to it if we do some fun book units in the lower levels this spring because I really really miss MBTP in our homeschool

What are your thoughts on trying to get the literature through the library versus buying? When buying used have you noticed if copyright date makes a difference in content or if it’s just literature that gets updated? Thank you for always being so helpful! 😊

The library is a great source, we have done that, also use Thrift books to get great deals. Buying used I always try to buy the most recent edition, but I have seen some older editions and there isn't a huge difference.

Hi there, new homeschool mom here and my kiddos are the same age. (Currently 5th grade twins and a 3rd grader.) what would your daily schedule look like using both Saxon and MBTP? I loved what you shared in this video but I’m a little overwhelmed with how to plan out my days to get things accomplished. Any insight would be so welcomed! Thank you!

We would do the language arts lesson which takes 30-45 minutes, then the science or social studies 30-45, then Saxon math which also takes 30-45 👍 we currently average around 3 hours of school per day and I don’t see that changing. My 6th graders could be getting closer to the 3.5 hour mark.

We also only school 3x a week the other days are for coops and days off

We actually started out with MBTP when our oldest was a toddler. Love seeing your family thriving on it. How do you feel about it compared to guest hollows grammar? Would y’all ever go back or does MbTP work best for your family? Love your videos as always.

We have worked on Beowulf grammar for two years and have completed it with my two oldest, once my son is ready he will use it but we will still be using the MBTP units. I think Beowulf grammar does a great job at laying solid foundations for grammar better than any other program I’ve seen. ❤️

@@gatheredandgroundedhomeschool that’s great to hear. I keep getting tempted to try Beowulf grammar but not sure about trying something new after all these years of doing something else. Do you feel that it’s teaching intensive. The juggle gets real and a lot of times, I don’t have time or energy to always sit with each child everyday.

Do you do more than one lesson per day? We’re almost done with our first year of MBTP (doing 7-9 and 9-11) and am having scheduling issues. How are you getting through (or plan to) all 12 units doing 3 days/week? We do co-op as well so are on track to only finish 7-8 units, doing MBTP 4 days/week. Thanks for any insight or tips on how you do it!

I have an 8.5 and a 10.5 year old. My 8 year old refuses to write paragraphs, but she is an amazing reader . Can you show us what some of the hardest writing projects are in the 8-10 set? Is there writing instruction, or do they tell you to just write a three paragraph essay, with no instruction?

I will do a more I depth look. I do know in the 7-9 age they were writing 3 paragraph papers but they do walk them through it step by step

my son loves to read and is a great reader, but writing has ALWAYS been a struggle for him. He loved mbtp but it does assume your child is an able and willing participant in writing activities ;) we switched from mbtp for him and after a few years of IEW and coming back to mbtp for a few units here and there he is doing much better with the assignments.

I have used the Science and History but not the literature. Does the literature have writing, handwriting, and grammar? I know you're doing handwriting and word roots, too. Is that necessary or just extra practice?

It does not have handwriting practice but all other language art elements, I just love word roots so much so its definitely supplemental

Grammar is learned throughout, but kind of splashed in. If you want something more in depth and more consistent, I'd recommend adding a writing curriculum and maybe a light, supplemental Grammar curriculum.
