This is my second year homeschooling and I have a 6mo, 5yr, and 7yr old. It's so valuable to hear more seasoned homeschooling momma share the lessons they've learned. Thank you! I felt so encouraged listening to you.

I think many people begin with choosing one company for every subject and then end up piecing things together from different companies and approaches as you grow in confidence and getting to know yourself as a teacher and your students.

One of the biggest things I've learned is that it's OK if the kids don't LOVE everything. That was a hard one for me. I also agree that structure and consistency are SUPER important. That's one I've learned as well. There is no perfect curriculum - everything will likely need some tweaking to fit your needs. School isn't a race. It's about continual growth for each child at his/her pace. Kids also will plateau and then leap ahead and then plateau again. That's normal.

Thank you so much for this video! I needed to hear EVERYTHING you said. This is my first year homeschooling my 4th grade daughter and I started following you because of Lightening Lit which I am planning to do level 5 next year.

Ahh this was so encouraging. Thanks for helping me reframe my perspective. We’re in those early years, a kindergartener a twin 3 year olds and it really is survival mode over here 😅 I would say also working on my comparison against others is sooo hard.

There are exceptions of course but as long as I finish 80% of the curriculum I mostly keep it moving forward.
