Thumping a watermelon isn't a good way to tell when it's ripe. The best way is to look for a curly tendril right on the vine next to the melon, when that dries up completely the melon is ripe The reason the bottom of the melon is yellowish is because it touches the ground.

Beautiful garden and flowers! One of the easiest ways to tell if a watermelon is ready is if the curly q closest to the watermelon stem is completely dried up,it’s ready.

I love seeing the children helping in the garden and Esther being such a blessing. I'm learning about gardening from year to year. I'm also teaching my little ones what I've learned. My progress is not as good this year, but I'm not giving up. I had some nice success with garlic and scallions earlier, and now waiting for peas and various herbs. I try to remember tips I've learned from your channel and others. I hope to master being a successful gardener in the near future. I didn't know there were different types of weeds. Thanks for sharing.
