The snow has finally melted in Dallas (mostly), and I have things to do! The little CB300R isn't the fastest on the highway, but she's plenty quick, and when the roads slow down, the CB doesn't.
Video quality is 1080p, uploaded at 4k to get the higher bitrate for better quality.

I was worried about how the cb300r would preform on highways but after watching this vid i feel more confident about it. Amazing lane riding in this vid as well

Thats the point of these videos! These bikes arent exactly highway rippers, but if you need to take the highway, the bike wont hold you back at all. However, keep an eye on your oil level, these bikes are sensitive to oil level, and tend to chuck a good bit out the breather.

The top speed is 90, and that’s me going downhill, crouched over, just about bouncing off the rev limiter. That being said, this thing is like a little puppy dog that just wants to play and run around, and I love mine like I’ve never loved a machine before.

I’ve been considering getting this bike for a while now, but my main fear has been being able to safely able to navigate Dallas traffic, as people go like 85 most of the time, and here you are doing just that! Would you say it’s comfortable for longer trips as well? (Like 100+ miles at at least 75mph)
@EllaBananas
@EllaBananas 2 жыл бұрын
This bike is more than fast enough to safely manage dallas highways. Just check the oil every once in a while if you do a lot of highway riding. As for long trips, its not the most comfortable, but neither is any naked bike with no wind protection. I did a 1200 mile road trip with mine and did 300+ miles in a day. It wasnt easy, but the cold was what got to me. tldr; The only thing that is going to limit you, is your own skill and stamina. However on the highway you will be topping up gas pretty frequently, the tank is fairly small.

In and around dfw this bike feel like you are downright cheating. It is so light that you can easily take alternate routes, slip down a back alley quickly, filter through traffic with ease, and stable enough to skip down the highway with ease.

I owned a CBR300R 2018 which is the same bike with faring. They can go 90-100 so traffic is not too bad. But what is bad is they are single cylinder and have a lot of vibrations. My bike at 75 was like its resonance frequency and would be unconformable, those like 80 or 70 was ok. I would say its not good for long trips unless your going less than 70

I own the CB300R and regularly do 100km/h (62 MPH). I don't think it would do well at 75 MPH and 100+ miles in one sitting (which I have done before) becomes painful very fast as the seat is hard. I love the 300R but I'd say it's not what you want.

Nice to see more lane-filtering happening in Texas. How is enforcement? I've seen videos of TX motorcycle cops pulling someone over for barely filtering past a single car, and I've also heard the usual "cops leave you alone as long as you're being safe". Have you ever filtered past law enforcement?
@EllaBananas
@EllaBananas 2 жыл бұрын
In heavy traffic like that the rule I follow is, if theyre stuck in traffic I cant get pulled over by them. Jokes aside, legally, its not explicitly ilegal, but they'll probably pull ypu over if they dont like it. In general I just keep an eye out for cops and if I see one I pop into a lane and wait till I'm out of line of sight to continue. Cops are like animals, cant count on consistency.

Kind of like how car drivers never notice bikers so do cops. I feel like I get away with stuff because they never really notice the bike or just don't know what to do and has to think about it and by that time im gone

sheesh.. so much open throttle. I wonder if it's worth doing an ecu flash on these. though with the small gas tank one might not want to
@EllaBananas
@EllaBananas 2 жыл бұрын
Its a 300 single, on the highway you should expect to be pretty much tapped out. The fact that you can mash on the throttle like that is part of what makes this bike a blast to ride. As for the gas tank size, its perfectly fine unless you're on a road trip. This bike can cross the country just fine so long as you keep an eye on the oil level, but you will have to fill up the tank frequently. As for an ecu flash, I plan to get a power commander at some point mostly just to get the fueling resolved, but also for a little extra power.

Ok I was hoping the sound was normal. I’m worried about mine because its acceleration sound is a little weird but this sounds like it. There been times where it lugs tho and now I don’t think it’s lugging it sounds like engine slapping and it’s happening more often what should I do
@EllaBananas

At very low rpms under high load the bike will tend to act like that, especially below 4k rpms. Around 3 the bike will tend to bog fairly heavily if you are in a higher gear. Its a 300cc single after all. Keep it above 4500 and you'll be golden.

Is it okay to run this bike on 7-8000 rpm for an hour?
@EllaBananas
@EllaBananas 2 жыл бұрын
Definitely. For 3 days straight I rode almost 400 miles a day between 8-9000 rpms non stop. The bike didnt have even the slightest problem with it. However, at those rpms, it will require a top up on oil ever so often. So just keep an eye on your oil level and you'll be fine. These bikes are designed to be ridden.

I don't doubt it has enough performance to cruise on the highway and go wherever. The issue that will probably lead me to the CBR500R is weight. The 300r weighs as much as my XSR 125 and I'm sure it will get blown around by the winds just as much.
@EllaBananas
@EllaBananas Ай бұрын
It did get blown around a fair bit, and you do feel the wash from semis and other large vehicles. However, so long as you remain calm and counter it, theres nothing to be concerned about. Big bikes feel the wind too its something you just kinda have to get used to. And one thing the cb is great for, is teaching you to ride. Make a mistake, and the bike will let you know, but it wont actively fight you or put you in a dangerous situation unless you ask for it.

would you say it's a good beginner bike?
@EllaBananas
@EllaBananas 2 жыл бұрын
I'd say it's a very very good beginner bike. It's super approachable, easy to ride, fast enough to handle the highway once you get there, and good enough to keep you entertained for years. Granted that its not for everyone, it isnt the fastest bike if that is what you are into, but if you dont care about that, everything else about it is damn near perfect.
@pleasedontwatchthese9593

The best IMO. Fast enough to not be boring, but slow enough so your not going too fast when you mess up. Really easy to work on also

@EllaBananas

The cb300r has a shift light. You can adjust the point where the light comes on by reading the manual. Its often used in drag racing so you make sure to shift at the right moment for top acceleration.

@EllaBananas
@EllaBananas Ай бұрын
As always, theres no replacement for actually sitting on the bike in a dealership, however I think you'll be alright. The bike will feel fairly small at your height, but depending on the length of your legs you should be plenty comfy. Again, def find a local dealership and sit on it first there really is no better way to be sure the bike fits you.
