Welcome back to the channel! IN this episode I'm continuing with the rebuild, this time getting the engine back into its home on the frame and finalising the valve clearances following the cylinder head rebuild.
First step, engine install. From the left hand side of the bike, rear first, twist in the front. Two types of engine mount...10mm and 8mm each with their own torque specifications.
Next, valve clearances. To do this, first retighten the cam chain. Find TDC on the left hand cylinder (LT) on the compression stroke (Both valves closed when looking through spark hole). Rotate 90 degrees clockwise and set cam chain tension. Rotate engine a few times and tighten lock nuts.
Valves: Left hand side needs TDC on compression stroke (LT mark). Take 0.004" feeler gauge, release lock nut, and adjust follower so gauge is tight (not stuck), retighten lock nut and check with 0.003". Should now be a little catch on the smaller gauge. Repeat on right hand cylinder. TDC on compression stroke (T mark).
I hope you find the information useful, thanks for watching!
