I just wanted to say that I thoroughly enjoyed your series and that I agree that Hackaweek did some ingenious jigsaw assembly, but you helped me tremendously filling in the gaps. If AI ever dose a montage for the CB750K, your 0:43 and Hackaweek's series would be perfect. Thank you Peter!

Hi peter, i love the 750 mate. I've had a few CB series bikes over the years. All great because obviously holding the Honda name. I'm so glad you took off that bloody ugly crash bar. Great call. "munted" isn't a term im used to, so thats a education in itself mate thanks. I think she will be a very worthy project. I know the newer DOHC CB750 bikes go hard, because i was involved in a resto with a mate. Thanks for another great video. Take care.

hey Peter , that plastic locking lever on the throttle grip is an aftermarket "cruise control" . used to lock the throttle on highways to hold the bike at a constant speed.

Couple of bits that had me laughing was when you showed how much oil was in the drip pan and the amount of rust that fell out of the exhaust pipes and the petrol tank hahaha. Pretty keen to see if it runs which i bet you are too. Cheers

I've had good luck on Ebay finding keys that match the numbers on the ignition and seat lock. I"d forgotten about aftermarket parts like the shock lowering and handlebar pull back brackets. Good luck

K8 & K7 have a longer rear swing arm (40mm I think) than the earlier K1 - K6's.
@AllSortsOfStuff587 жыл бұрын
Looks promising so far. Remarkably solid in some ways for its age. Hopefully it was reasonably well looked after and little used. The fuel tank and oil were a bit concerning, but with a bit of luck and a new tank you could be 'cooking on gas' as they used to say in the TV adverts...........David(UK)

Thanks David, I disassembled more today and so far, all good. There's bound to be something nasty lurking, just need to find it. Cheers
@klipstone17 жыл бұрын
Looks good dude :) sometimes you can be lucky with the locks and they wont have been changed or messed with, Also there should be a set of numbers on the ignition and that will tell you what key/profile it is in the code series. Lets see if i can find the right code book and card at the workshop, I was pretty stoked when the keys I made to my old kz100st worked straight away.

You need a hydraulic bike bench Pete, makes grovelling on the floor a thing of the past, but they do take up a bit of room.
@decomposing6 жыл бұрын
Peter it shouldn't have had a lot of oil in the sump pan because they are a dry sump engine. Hence the oil tank under the side cover. That bike appears to be a K7. I had one for a few years, and nearly everything on them is actually different to the earlier models. They share the same engine parts as the F1 - F2 models. But from memory the internal gearing is different to the earlier models, and I think even the crankcases were different. 17 inch rear wheel instead of 18 etc. Great find. I wish you well in your resto.

Hi Peter. Looking at your 4 through Australian eyes it looks like a bits'a. The last Australian delivered SOHC 750 4 was a 1978 F2. Had a different frame ( I think ), 5 spoke rims, twin disc front, disc rear & the black motor. It was said to have a warmer cam but weaker overall then a K motor. Oh and not for getting uglier then a bag full of busted bums compared to the K. The US obviously keeped the K a bit longer. Your tank looks like an Oz F1 / F2 tank. Anyhow, it's an os model and that's it. I'm sure you will keep tapping the 30+ Yo memory here for a bit. Regards, Tim.

I wonder why someone went to the trouble of importing this non-runner all the way from the US. Maybe it was meant to be a project that didn't work out for some reason? Maybe just to do a quick flip and make a couple bucks? I like a good back story! Anyway, looking forward to following along as you bring it back to life!

Am I mistaken,or is that bike from Wisconsin here in the US.Did you have it shipped to you,or was it already in your country? I remember that those bikes were pretty fast back when they came out.If you can get it running,tuned and cleaned up,it sure would be a fun machine to to make "quick" trips to the store to stock up on tea.Looking forward to the resto.

It's interesting, mustie1 would have tried to start this bike as-is but that doesn't seem to be something you considered. I wonder if that's a cultural difference.
@PeterAndersons6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Perhaps a little more precautionary than cultural. As it stood there was no compression so it couldn't have run. I wanted to restore the bike, so ensuring the internal parts were taken care of was more important to me than running it. Substantial damage can be done if an engine's sat around for decades then started without carrying out some important checks. (Adhesive wear etc). From what I've seen, much of Musties work is on Yard Sale mowers, generators, bikes etc, so I guess damaging a $20 or $50 item is not a significant loss, but bikes like this are expensive here, so the damage bill can run very very high. Cheers
@BasicPoke6 жыл бұрын
Peter Anderson Maybe it would have started and pushed the exhaust valves into place. But I know you wanted to take it apart and I am glad you did because I enjoyed it a lot. Watching this series a second time now.
