In this episode I strip and rebuild the top fairing/cowl of my CBR900RR project bike. I find a few fasteners missing which may be causing the noise I have mentioned before. I am building this bike to be a road going runner, not a full restoration.

Although this isn’t going to be a full restoration, I want it to be a tidy bike, without any irritating faults.
One of the issues I had with the bike is a strange squeaky noise when I am slowing down. When I stripped the top fairing I discovered that there were a few fasteners missing from the inner panels. These parts moving about may be what I was hearing.
The cowl comes off the bike in one piece, with a little wiggling, so you can treat it as one large assembly. I do intend to put some original style stickers on it, but haven’t decided which yet, I have a yellow and a silver set.
There was one of the fixings for the front driving light that needed a repair. I used a stainless rivnut which worked out well. I also had to use some plastic clips that were missing. I have a box with a wide assortment of these, it’s surprising how often they are needed.
