Hi mate, really sorry but that kit where you chop the M50 manifold simply doesn't seem to exist anymore. Sad because I though that was the most elegant solution. However, there are still kits which convert it with no chopping available. Check this one out: ebay.us/TV4O6Y At least you wont have to butcher an expensive manifold this way. :)

The rivets should be easy to remove by pushing the central pin in, then lifting the whole thing out. When removed, push the pin up so it protrudes from the top ready for reuse. Then to install, put it into position and push the pin down so it is flush with the head.

Hello there from the Netherlands, I really admire ur work.. And not only that. U look like someone who could be my best m8.. And that's not because ur famous now😂 I just bought an 316 E30 1984.. In mint condition.. 1 problem.. I have a carbed version with mechanical fuel pump attached to engine. So I need to rewire a fuel harness. But ok.. That aside haha 2 questions if that's ok What clutch release bearing did u got? Some people say get the e30 323i bearing.. It's taller... And u need that because u have an m20 lightened flywheel. Others say.. Just the m20 325i release bearing is good enough. Ps :I got an 318is gearbox like u* And also I notice U don't have a bearing at the m20 flywheel.. Shouldn't there be one innit? The hole seems empty Whenever ur in Holland I'll buy u a beer 🙏🍻 Grtz Sander

Awesome the '84 E30 sounds like an awesome project, I actually really like the pre-facelift look. Also if you were in the UK your car would be about to be MOT and Tax exempt as a classic. I used the standard M20 release bearing and there are no issues from that perspective since I did that. There shouldn't be a bearing in the flywheel itself, but there is one in the crank hub on the engine which the nose of the gearbox slots into. You will need to change this (to 12mm I think, but measure the gearbox to confirm). Mine was already changed to one which fits the 318is gearbox because the M52 engine had been used in an E30 swap. I forgot to clarify that in the vid! Thanks so much for the kind words my friend! 😃

Nice M3.. 😊 Think its your longshaft CV which is causing the clunk.. when u turned the longshaft in the video, heard some faint loose clunk...and with all the loose grease, i think its best your redo the CV.. With the 341 ponies, that CV takes a lot beating.. 😮 Just a thought..
@SPANNERRASH
@SPANNERRASH 4 күн бұрын
Cheers Felix! The clinking sound you hear when i turned that is actually the gearbox flange turning, the CV on the prop actually felt pretty sound. The driveshafts have a bit more play than I'd have liked, but not a crazy amount either. It's likely a combination of a lot of small amounts of play adding up to one big clunk. But I suspect the majority of the problem is with the diff, being that they're notorious for it. We will see how it all plays out! 😄

Video on those brembo calipers
@SPANNERRASH
@SPANNERRASH 4 күн бұрын
Wish I'd have been pointing the camera at stuff back when I figured all that out. They're Porsche 996 Brembo 4-pot calipers front and rear, paired with CSL discs. If I recall, I'm using Creation Motorsports adapter brackets to make them work. Unfortunately you need to get a couple of mm machined off the caliper mounting faces for a perfect fit. Then braided lines to match. Oh and the rear pad uses a front pad from a different caliper, with a modification to get more full sweep on the disc. Maybe I should do a vid explaining it actually, I'm now remembering there's quite a bit to it. 🤣

I have been requested by DVLA to complete the v55/5 as my car is a used car which is being imported back into the UK. I currently have insurance, road tax (with a number plate) and MOT. Would it be legal to still drive the car?
@SPANNERRASH
@SPANNERRASH 8 күн бұрын
I am sorry but I really do not have an authoritative answer for this. However if it was me, and if the car does have a number plate, and is MOTed, Taxed and Insured. I would check on the DVLA systems, MOT, Insured etc on the registration number that I have on the car and if it appears on them I would keep driving, on the basis that I am complying with the legal requirments. These are the same systems that the Police, and others, check as you are driving along, so if the number doesn't appear on it you will get stopped. However I would also contact my insurance and inform them that the DVLA has asked you to do this. I hope this helps.
