DIY low budget amateur rebuild of the Honda 1992 CG125 to make it more pleasing to look at! Inspired by the street scrambler and cafe racer bikes out there.
Benefits of the 1992 model is that it has a flat bottom to the tank, giving it a cleaner line throughout the bike.

Front tyre: CST By Maxxis C858 3.00-18
Rear Tyre: CST By Maxxis C858 3.50-18
Speedo: Aftermarket
Grips: Aftermarket
Seat: Aftermarket
Rear Shocks: Aftermarket
Rear Light: Aftermarket
Rear Hoop: Made from centre stand
Battery: Replaced with capacitor

Hey matt !, brilliant bike!!, the end result looks fantastic!, About 20 years ago, i did a cg125, circa 1984ish??, my mods, were complete rewire, rear seat subframe repaired with piece welded on from yamaha dt 175, those rubbish chrome mini tacho and speedos , and twin headlights from rectangular car foglamps, straight handlebars, triumph or b.s.a megaphone , alloy seat baseplate, covered with dark green leather from girlfriends old sofa !!, the only major problem i found was after fitting a k&n filter, it took forever to get the mixture/jetting right, but eventually got it right!!!

easier to keep the airbox and keeps it sfe from water but it looks cool exposed

I personally would position the headlamp lower to compliment the line following the tank and the seat, but great build👌

The Honda CG 125 is still one of the best selling bikes in Pakistan same design. There is a Chinese brand here called Lifan they sell a really cool fresh out of factory cg125 cafe racer with a 150 Shelby engine on a 125 chassis. For thoes who don't know about it I recommend to check it out

What size wheels are these? I am having trouble sourcing trail tyres for my 1980 k1 cg125 1.6x17 rear 1.4x18 front.. is this the 6v version?? Cheers

Where did you get the seat, tail lights, and speedo from? I'm currently struggling with finding these parts for mine, although the seats are all on eBay, it's just finding the correct one that fits! Great job btw.

Hi Arran thanks for the comment, I bought most of the parts from eBay they are all generally universal fit. The speedo was a kph and managed to fix it to a spare bolt hole near the bar mount. And the standard speedo cable was used. Tail light was a cheap eBay part again, made to fit using a metal plate and the sides cut off to allow the smaller number plate. The seat again was a universal with a plate made up and a bar welded across the frame then nut and bolted together. Hope this helps and good luck!

Matt Squires Ahh right, I thanks for that. I think I'll buy a universal seat off of eBay then, was it difficult to fit the holding bar onto it? I think I could get a speeding into the mount that holds the current honda one, did you tape up the ends of the lights that come on when you indicate? It's good fun to work on but it's difficult to navigate all of these changes at once hah!! Thanks for the info, I'll keep all this in mind.

Hi, thanks for the comment. I worked with what I had. Tbh there is not a lot to it and you can find a wiring diagram only and repair the sections you need to 👍🏼

Hi Matt, love the bike, and I’m doing something similar with a CG125. Just wondering what the case was that you used for electrical under the seat? Looks like a plastic triangular case?

This is freaking awesome! Absolutely love the end result. Would you say a project like this is doable for a novice with any mechanical knowledge or experience with motorcycle internals? I would love to do a cafe racer build, but I'm definitely in the scraping the bottom of the beginners barrel.

Hey, I used CST C858 tyres, 350x18 on the rear and 300x18 on the front with inner tubes to match. Fit the standard rims fine no issues with clearance 👍🏼

If you use it in the streets yes you'll be in trouble. Safety>Style. If you want to ride the streets without mirrors and indicators ride a bicycle. A motorized vehicle on the street without indicators and mirrors is a hazard to everyone especially the one using it.
