Hi there again! This year I finally learnt a great lesson about my Honda Civic sedan 1'6 idtec 2019 consumption. During the winter and below 8ºC degrees, I got a consumption of 5.0 liters at 100kmh in the full of hills highway of my region. I was scared because I imagined that something was wrong with the engine. But this summer with temperatures over 22ºC and without A/C, I easily achieved a 4.0 liters at the same speed and way. The conclusion is that the car should mount an active front in order to prevent the cold air to freeze the engine and help to warm up faster after the startup. One day I managed a 3'5L consumption just following trucks at 93kmh. I only miss a system to recover energy in the downhills, because it would also help to avoid punishing the car breaks so much in those long downhills in the mountains.

I can't believe it. My Honda Civic 1.6 idtec 2019 gets 4'5L/100km at 100Kmh and that is with the engine at operating temperature. At 110kmh it does 4'7L/100km, at 120km/h it's 5L/100km, and at 130kmh it gets 5'3L/100km. Getting a consumption below 4'5 requires traveling not over 90kmh, but that would turn you into a turtle. When the particle filter regenerates, the fuel consumption average increases by 0'1 to 0'2 L/100km. My car mounts 215/50/17 tyres. The only way to get a consumption below 4 liters is disassembling the NOx Catalyst and the particle filter.

congrat, you are absolutely being aware to this car and this engine, because you are absolutely right about consumption datas. what do You think how could this car came out with 3,7liter/100 km official data? I know manufacturers usually give less than really it is gonna be, but how is it possible as You have written, you can't ever reach less than 4,0 - but it was 3,7at the brossure? This question usually comes to my mind, and I thought sg like you: factory consumption datas came out without emission cleaning systems.. Anyways I use 16" wheels, and almost never brake, i usually drive at midnight-empty roads, and my country is really flat. However I am at the 1.st place among all 10gen Civics on spritmonitor.de but if You check 9gen 1.6 i-DTECs, there are at least 8 cars under 4,0 l/100km wtih more ten-thousand kms at their odometer.

@@iyedsterzhFirstly, thank you for your answer. My Civic is the sedan model, and executive finish. That might add a little extra weight. I live in the North of Spain, mild weather and lots of hills in the highway. With the WLTP cycle, Honda announces a consumption between 4 and 4,8 , depending on the speed (Low, medium, high, extra high). Those figures are closer to the real consumption than the old NEDC cycle. Mounting low rolling friction tyres would help to decrease the fuel consumption between 0'1 and 0'2 liters per 100km. I try not to brake, because it is a waste of energy, but this engine has almost no friction, so using the gear box to slow down is really hard. If you ask me, I would have added a break regeneration system like hybrid cars. In my old car I first changed my front breaking pads with 110.000km, and the rear ones with 190.000km. This Honda civic is awesome even though it is 1 liter over your fuel consumption average. Some old good diesel cars not mounting a particle filter get easily a 4 liter average.

@VNL 730 Hi there. I can only speak about my civic, and here is my point of view. I come from and old and noisy Opel Astra 2.0 DTI, a hard, reliable and low maintenance expenses car. I loved it. This new civic sedan diesel manual box seems rather silent to me, you won't hear the engine unless you drive over 2.200rpm and I do mostly run between 1.400 and 1.800rpm except when overtaking another car or speeding up to enter the highway. Logically a good Mercedes car would be even less noisy, but that sort of car is worth 50.000€. Need to mention that this 1.6 idtec was improved to reduce vibrations and noise. The CVT automatic transmission is assigned to the 1.5 VTEC and experts say that it is much better than the 9AT automatic transmission that is mounted in the diesel engine. No idea about the noise. About Ride quality, this 1.400kg car behaves amazingly good in the highway, but also acceptable in a mountain road. The 5 door model has a much better active suspession, but don't expect a rally car. It is a heavy car for sharp curves, but you will enjoy driving it. If you aren't a rally driver, this suspenssion will do your pleasure because it's specially balanced. In contrast, in Europe this car's oil must be replaced every 10.000km, and it's a expensive sort of oil (0w30 special for Honda). Outside of Europe the oil service is every 15.000km. In my opinion, that's the most "dark side" of this car, the maintenance expenses are higher than other diesel cars. I don't like visiting the garage so often and spending 150€ on an oil replacement. The VW Passat will probably use a cheeper 5w30 oil, and be replaced every 30.000km (check it). In favour of the civic is that it doesn't have the Urea inyection, so you will save some money and worries. Be aware about the availability of Honda dealers and service in your area. Here in Spain there are at least 4 times more VW repair shops than Honda's. The Honda sensing equipment is amazing, it will drive the vehicle for you in the Highway. I found it very useful for long journeys. My most important piece of advice, these diesel new engines aren't recommended for urban traffic, the DPF is bound to be damaged. If you plan to drive in the city, you'd better to purchase a petrol car or a Hibrid. You'll save money in the long run and prevent many headaches. Good luck!

I own one honda civic 1.6 i-dtec with 9 speed automatic, my lowest fule consumption is 0.33L but I'm running on all season Tyre that is on 16 ince wheels. I can only get that if I drive on 70 to 80 km/h and on highway on 110km/h 0,45 on 130km/h 0,48

amazing, really what about mpg at the pump? Any substantial offset to indicated value? mine Mazda 3 Skyactiv 2.2D consumes 4.0-4.1L/100km/h (@ 100km/h Tacho, GPS 95km/h) according to indicated value, at the pump +0.15L/100km/h

my previous Accord 2.2 i-CTDi was a cheater compared to this with 0,3-0,5 liter more at the pump than on the display. This new one is really accurate with +/- 0,1 liter difference counted on the gas station invoices. Anyways i am recenlty at the 2.nd place at spritmonitor.de among all X generation Civic (from 2017).
