Honda Civic Roof Molding (Drip Side Molding) Windshield Trim Replacement (2006-2011). In this video I show how to replace the Roof Molding (also called Drip Side Molding) on an eighth generation Honda Civic. Replacing the windshield trim roof molding on your Honda Civic is a good DIY project that can make the vehicle look much better. The exact vehicle in this video is a 2006 Honda Civic EX 1.8L Sedan. 2006-2011 Honda Civics should be similar.

Awesome vid. Still can’t believe how expensive these are and how they all almost always fail within a matter of time. I bought some home depot rubber with one sticky side, cut them to length and slid it underneath the space between the windshield to cover those clips. Excellent video and right to the point. Well done, sir.

jimmy, in what way did yours fail? I have a Honda Accord 2006 model and I've got a gap between my rubber and the glass, I'm wondering how that could have happened as my car hasn't been in any accidents and the molding doesn't look warped in any way?

Man, SPOT ON video instructions! Thank you for the time you spent doing a great job... Subbed.. I literally just did the install today and maybe spent 30min, more so making sense of the driver side first. It appears that the passenger side windshield clips are installed before the windshield is installed, because the windshield is flush against the clip. There is no way to remove the clip without breaking the bottom of the clip to lift it out... For the parts, check online with your local dealer's "Online Parts", because there's a significant price difference... In short the R&L Roof drip sides were $95.22 here in Southern California vs the same dealers price of like $130! My body shop wanted $109... The one note I would add is how to remove the front end towards the windshield. 1) To clarify, you don't need to remove any part of the cowel assembly; you did mention that you were doing it, but not needed to remove the roof trim. 2) start with releasing the windshield clips and then the roof clips 3) then flex the middle of the windshield section of the trim and pull the end back and out...

Dave I’m glad to see I’m not the only person breaking clips. Nothing like working with dried out plastic. In the dessert where you are heat destroys everything and up here in the north rust destroys everything. On my Honda Odyssey sliding door there is a rubber bumper on the top aft inside of the door that completely melted.all junk and the parts aren’t cheap. Thanks for sharing. The 2008 accord coupe has a rubber seal on the inner edges of that moulding where one part goes under the glass and the other is on top of the windshield glass. Some mechanics forget that and then the mouldings don’t go down properly. Nice video!!

Awesome video!! Nice job!! Your video saved me $256. My local Honda dealership wanted to charge me that for labor for both drip molding. I can't thank you enough. One thing I would like to add. I did what you said about buying new clips (which they are very cheap) but my local Honda dealership didn't have all the clips. I had to try and save one clip (the brown one). Your video said to snap them out, but be careful because I ended up breaking the small tab that locks the clip into place in the track. So what I found out because I tried it out on the other clips that I replaced is that you have to use a screwdriver and try to get underneath the rail somewhere near the middle of the clip and press down slowly and the clip should pop right out. Once again I can't thank you enough for making this video.

Gosh Bigdog, I wished I had seen this video when I had to replace my trim pieces back in 2017. The clips were darn hard to get out, broke nearly everyone of them but I had ordered complete sets for both sides so I just replaced everything. I shot some video of me doing it but up against your video mine looks like crap so I never posted it. Thanks for doing such a great video. And thumbs down to Honda for building such a crappy part that deteriorated within the first 5 years! At the replacement part is fairing much better - maybe they built a better replacement!

I have a leak, so was just going to remove molding and use sealant wherever looks like cracked or leak coming from. This is much more work than I anticipated, to remove all those other pieces just to remove the molding.... 🤦‍♂️. I may just be rebellious and remove molding without all the other under the hood stuff. Totally unprepared for something I need done in a rush, before it rains again.

Great video, extremely clear. I need to do this in any case for a ‘07 because the strips touching sides of windshield are practically disintegrating, but I’m also wondering, could this be the cause of water getting in passenger compartment and making car smell moldy? Thanks! Edit: also, I believe part# for brown clip is incorrect, based on internet search. Think it is 73155-SNA-003, not 73115 … (4th digit is 5, vs. 1)

I have the drip side molding still, however, the rubber which covers the white clips that run along the side of the windshield were ripped off in a car wash. I didn't realize what they were. I thought it was a piece of the car wash. LOL. I thought it was the drip which I needed to replace but it's just those rubber pieces. I have no idea what they are called! been looking everywhere online to try to find out. any idea?

Hi, my trunk is leaking water and after further research on 2013 civic Si other people have had same issues. One person found that it’s leaking at the roof seam - body weld seams - under the roof moulding … do you know how to fix this issue?

At 25:01 you talk about the rubber seal laying nicely against the glass. This rubber seal is the part I need on both sides not the roof drip mounding. Do you have a video for that part? Where do I get replacements of that?

Great instructional! Only part that confused me-you say the bottom brown clip was seated in the windshield epoxy, so it broke off when you were removing the passenger side molding. When you replaced it, what did you secure it to? I’m struggling to understand how a replacement clip there would be functional if the old one was held in place by windshield epoxy. Thanks! -Robert

The new one probably wasn't doing much to hold it in (it just popped into the same epoxy void as the old one), but those bottom clips typically don't do much (due to their style) and don't have much strength. The other type clips are strong and what holds the trim in. I don't recommend cutting or messing with windshield epoxy. Thanks for the comment!

Hi there, can you explain WHY you did this job please? I have noticed that on my Honda Accord there is a gap between the rubber seal and the glass (on the driver's side) whilst there is no gap on the passenger side. I've just gotten a quote from Honda UK and it's around $350 to do one side.....In your video, did you take off your rubber seal? I'm concerned that if I replace mine, I'll still have that gap, but I'm pretty certain my car isn't damaged in any way, so to know why you changed yours could help me understand better (for sure they do dull and don't look so well after x number of years, like mine and yours now look a lot smarter, so did you do it only for cosmetic reasons? Many thanks :)
