and some of those bikes are still running to this day.

American motorcyclists must thank Honda for giving us a better image. Brady bunch is still better than uneducated gangsters. Thanksfully, this legendary campaign was wildly successful and Honda sold a gazillion bikes. Sales increased five fold.

Believe it or not some of these very early honda 50s had an electric start!.....A mechanic who had a motor bike repair shop here in Tralee for 40 years was given one of these early honda 50s in the 1990s which was buried under a load of bits and pieces for over twenty years, He stripped down the engine, painted the body and off she went. The frames of these early bikes where twice as heavy as the later models. The mans name was John Connor and he passed away a few years ago, The remains of his shop can sill be seen in Tdayralee and I reckon that particular honda 50 made a right few bob! How times have changed. I remember dumping a trailer of rubbish in Tralee dump with a friend one Saturday and thrown down among the rubbish was three 1960s honda 50s, all complete except the wheels were missing. It took a few Saturdays and they were all running and sold for a song. Half the small farmers in Kerry had 50s in those days and if I had a euro for every one I bought from these lads over the years F'd be a very happy man, When the engine to wear and give trouble, the farmers often blocked gaps in ditches and fences with what are worth a right few quid now. The last one I sold I bought it with a few 28'' high nelly mens bikes and a CD 175. That was two years ago. I tidied up the honda 50, got thw engine running and put an add in the local paper. There was a frenzy of replies and I said first come first served and sold the 50 for 400 euro, after paying 500 euro for the lot. The guy was loading the bike unto his car trailer and I asked him if he wanted to hear the engine running.. He wasn't bothered and he seemed to let me start the bike for him out of courtesy! it was crazy, I had the CD 175 half finished when another guy just like the first couldn't wait to get is hands on it and it ended up somewhere in Cork. I was sorry after that I didn't finish it and keep it for old time sake, she was 1972. Now I have one 28'' raleigh mans high nelly left in good condition with almost new wheels, the guy I bought it from kept it in his late granpa's house, All I'm short is a brooks saddle, anyone for sale?

Commercial in the 70s for a Honda ... The man who wrote the Car Book, bought himself a Honda. I’ve bought only a Honda since 1976.
