Honda Fit Leak: CRACKED! Roof Channel Seam Sealant Repair 🌧💦

As a GD3 owner this frustration is likely something you are all too familiar with. Today we put an end to the massive leak in our Honda Fit, This would allow enough water through to fill the spare tire hold in a heavy rainstorm even making its way into the rear floor pan and carpet.

Did any other Hondas have this seam split issue causing leaks? We had an old CD5 Accord that was fantastic save for a random interior leak after rainstorms. I could never find where the leak was coming from over the years, despite blowing out drain plugs and ripping out the interior. Great channel. Appreciate your Fit content!! More Honda maintenance videos please!! .

Hello, thanks for the video. Looks like you've gone through a few Fits. Would you say the cracks are a deal breaker? Do they cause problems other than leaks, I'm guessing they aren't structural. I'm going for a test drive of one soon and will be watching out for this.

Definitely not a deal breaker considering the ease of repair. Work need repairs into the price and you’ll likely come out of it with a great vehicle.

@@combustiontherapy2222 Bought an 08 last week. Looked for a crack and sure enough it has the same crack yours has on the right side. Doesn't seem to be leaking and no rust under the carpet. Would you still recommend e6000? I like the idea of using clear stuff instead of ugly black.

@@sandmanlol I ended up flipping the vehicle for a profit, I can say while I had the vehicle the repair held up just fine and succeeded at thwarting entry of water through the split, Being clear is definitely a positive. Another option costing less than 3M seam sealant would be clear RTV silicone. I think pretty much anything should hold up well with a little area prep work.

How's it holding up after 2 months? Seems like most places recommend the 3M seam sealer but I really don't want to spend $50 on glue. E6000 still going strong?

It will lift from its groove fairly easily once pulled up from the end

1:33 This type of split should never have happened. I was an inspector in the aircraft industry. Any aircraft having the start of such a structural split would have been grounded. This split is flexing, widening and lengthening. Something very bad about how this vehicle was made is evident. As the are many KZfaq videos showing such needed repairs the problem is systemic.
