@40B-20- Lucas Ruchirat honestly, I did a Chimera intake and K&N filter and haven't had issues. I only kept the air box mod for like a month or so. The airbox mod did work and sounded decent, but I personally wanted more and that's why I went the route I did.

@@charlespeters4835 Did you couple it with exhaust? Get a ECU programmer, or flashed? Did it run lean?

@@briarfox637 honestly. I quickly afterwards ripped out the airbox and put in a Chimera intake and k&n filter. Never touched the ecu. Never had any issues with my bike. Almost 13k miles and she's running strong.

@@charlespeters4835 I have the Toce exhaust on the way. I think I'll mod the box until the intake comes in. No issues I won't worry about the ECU. I'll just monitor the engine temp.

This mod doesn't increase air enough to make it run lean. This is a very typical mod. You could do this and run a guage to see the air fuel levels, it aint lean at all.

If anything you’re preventing all that… stock is built by legal aspects lol not performance or economy. I doubt it would run lean with no air filter on this small intake

The bike runs in open loop. (The bike doesn't have an o2 sensor to know to adjust the air fuel ratio).

I’ve seen some people reset their ECUs after doing this mod all you gotta do is look out for the ECU under your seat, on the right side of the bike it’s a little red cap looking wire, pop the cap off the connector and place a paper clip in the blue and green wire prongs flip the kill switch on plug your throttle all the way down/ wide open, turn key to on position and you’ll notice your check engine symbol blinking once it’s blinking you can turn it off and take your paper clip out of the ECU button everything back up and then turn your bike on all the way and it should’ve reset your ECU and look like everything’s running normally. Jon yea man I decided to make this video because all the other tutorials were either too long or didn't show the work being done. Once you start her up after the air box mod you'll immediately hear the difference. The throttle feels more responsive. You won't get top end power but it'll help you get you there slightly faster. And no removing the snorkel doesn't let water in, unless you plan on going for a swim with the grom. And the mesh just blocks the airflow. I would recommend getting a k&n air filter like I did for mine. Thanks for watching 🖒

Could it damage it that bad ? I'm considering and I'm due to replace the air filter at 16,000 km. I depend on the grom daily commuter and everything is stock except tires and handlebars

Yupp instead of getting 10,000+ miles out of your bike you going to get 7000 miles out of will cause engine damage any time you modify you air box and allow more air in your engine it will make your motor run super lean I don’t care what anyone says Iv been working on bikes since I was little if your going to change your intake you need to get a power commander something to change your air flow ratio to compensate for it You gotta have the right air to gas ratio or you will hurt your bike end of story

No an exhaust won’t hurt anything best one to get would be a zoom loop

Lmao It's not a carbureted bike. Theres a mass air flow sensor for a reason & the the filter is still doing it job. It will just get dirty a little quicker

Quessoo Stunts hey man so I did this mod and my bike was running horrible. I felt like my low end torque was non existent. I decided to put back the inner snorkel inside the airbox but kept the outer snorkel off. It seems to be running better. Is this still safe for the bike having the inner snorkel attached with the outer snorkel still removed? ?

SnapBack damn thats the first ive heard of something like that happening. You shouldnt have an issue with the outside snorkel removed. Do you have anything done to your groms motor?

Quessoo Stunts no I havnt touched anything on the motor. All I put was a AR exhaust and the air filter mod. It started giving me trouble as soon as I put in the 93 for the first time after it coming from the dealership. I did the airbox mod right after so I really don’t know which was giving me the problem. I put just that inner snorkel back in today and the torque was a little better. So it’s totally ok to keep that outer snorkel off the bike right ? I think it will Let a little more air into the airbox while keeping that inner snorkel attached.
