Most engines 4cyl, v6, v8, inline or opposed or whatever ( mostly nowadays ) have a redline usually around 6000-7000 lol. a lot of people don't understand why or what makes high rpm engines cool and I've seen ppl drive cars like this and they never rev it all the way out and my soul leaves my body

In my honest opinion, I compete in top 10 1.8 l ever category. The car in question is Celica T-Sport 01´. 2zz was also used by lotus. 192 hp N/A. But yeah, it was overshadowed by honda. Cornering is more nimble than celica gt-four´s. Today people start to realize that the hidden gem has been on our plain sight. Bought one for 6100€, 160 000 km driven.

in walked the 1.8t from Volkswagen to fuck that idea up. imo the best 1.8 engine. yes it's got a tiny turbo but that can be changed like the rods and pistons in a 1.8 VTEC to get any power out of it...and be reliable. best because you can pick up a 1.8t powered car for....300 pound....and it will beat the crap out of a 2.0 VTEC as standard. 1.8 VTEC is more like 5k now a days.

Mine is completely standard and indicates that it revs to 9000 on rev cut, I guess the rpm dial reads off as it gets higher and higher in the rpm range... not surprised as it has so far to travel lol

For being a stock n/a 1.8 car back in the 90’s I still consider this really quick! I remember keeping up with 350z’s and beating early 2000’s 5.7l chargers, and even gave a stock i6 twin turbo Mercedes’ a run for its money from a 20mph roll up until it started passing me around the top of 3rd gear, even beat several Stock s2000’s, itr’s were no joke for what came in the box and for its era

It accelerates from 0-100 too under 7 seconds and weighs about 1150 kg. Short gears, 6 speed manual, metal matrix composite -materials used in engine block. But @Darko comment proves it being awesome aswell :D

It's not quick. It's slower than a Lexus RCF that is considered a slow car. BUT The Integra R does it with style and a splendid sound, and this compensate for it. It's exactly what I try to explain to the very young coming into cars. You don't care how fast from 0-60 a car goes, what is important, is how it makes you feel about it.

It’s not some simple mod, but using that as an example of why this would be fast… is retarded because you’re literally admitting that it’s slow naturally, hence why it would need a turbo lmao. It almost goes without saying ANY car you slap a turbo on is gonna gain over a hundred horses. Doesnt intrinsically make that engine “fast”. The 0-60 alone on this thing was ass for such a small car. when i was younger i got to see some pretty good sides of the car scene. one of the bikes that impressed me most was an 80cc 2 stroke dirtbike. even new 750's couldnt catch it till it hit 5th gear and didnt have anything left. the car that did the same was a cheap little honda prelude my friend kept under a tarp. he bought it cheap from an old lady with no miles. and i shit you not could hang with crotch rockets up to 130 mph when it also ran out of gear. but the bikes didnt have much either at the time. early 2000's 600 was lucky to see much over 140 150 mph. if that car had a 6th gear it would have pulled away from those bikes every time. i couldnt believe that little 1.6 or 1.8l motor could do that with no work no mods just stock and some good ole Italian tune ups.

@@tylerfabish5578 this most likely happened before your time so keep your comments to yourself. i have nothing to gain by misleading anyone on here. im just sharing some of my experiences with these people because not everyone gets to see or do some of the things others call a regular day. those cars are quick for todays standards they are still alright but it was good power to weight ratio. thats it. i have a daily driver s10 blazer that is the same thing. its light makes gobs of torque and has really good road manners till you hit the gas. with a fuel injected small block i get better gas mileage than some 4 cylinders. and it can still clear 1/4 mile in 12 sec or less. taiwan is cranking out 2 strokes from 70-125cc that can do the 1/4 mile in less than 10 seconds. it doesnt take much to go fast when you know what your doing.

That close ratio transmision gives speed in every gear change, pretty cool. Just realize this car was named the best fwd sports car ever. Almost 200hp from a 1.8l NA plus a lot of cool tech in transmission and wiki info = including a strengthened chassis with extra spot welds and thicker metal around the rear shock towers and lower subframe, weight reduction (reduced sound insulation, 10% thinner windscreen, lighter wheels), more power, rev limiter set at 8,600 rpm JDM (8,500 rpm USDM, 8,700 rpm UKDM), hand built engine featuring hand-polished and ported intake ports, high compression pistons, undercut valves and revised intake and exhaust systems, and suspension upgrades. Does anybody knows how much this was new back in its time?

0-200 24 sec! wtf! really stock? Iam going to buy a ITR next week, fro mfirst ownership but in teh testdrive it felt more like 24sec 100-200 x)

7 years later (wow..) i can tell my stock but very health ITR did 21s 100-200 (GPS) But iam running Prelude now anyway, h22 is superior even more superior and iam not talking about Displacement

That is pretty quick about 121 or 126 MPH. This is when you are light weight and not a lot of power, reason why at the circuits, road racing, and auto cross they kill it.
