The ihds is the factory/ oe software so it will do the required functions, ( immobilizer issues may require LSID)

If the vin function is available ( some older ones ,not sure what year, dont even store the vin. ) using ihds it is usually pretty simple when the vehicle is identified.

hey did you get yourself figured out here. Last week i unstalled a used pcm in a 06 civic that a injector went bad on and wrecked the pcm wrote it with a autel scan tool worked well for that situation was a maxisys 908

@@BrianMann216 I got through today thanks, the customer was in a rear accident and the radio transmitter located in the right rear fender had one of the connector out . Probably disconnected it to repair the bounce . Connected it and solved the issue.

Thanks for watching. I highly recommend using a battery maintainer. You will be bumming if it goes too low or dead while programming.

Many scan tools including ihds should rewrite the vin for hondas

Yes it is possible, However it may not work, technically speaking GM says that is not possible with a global A vehicle, I have personally done it and succeeded and I have also done it and had it fail and not recover, also one time programming did not complete however it shifted fined and no lights.

@@BrianMann216 thank you for the reply . I’m going to convince him it’s a bad idea as it’s a tough job I don’t want to do twice . I would charge him for both . By the way I lived in Cleveland For a number of years in the late 80s early 90s . I worked at Central Cadillac and then Chesterland Auto body as a mechanic . The Owners were really nice people at Chesterland . Thank you again .

@@geraldwilliams3550 you are welcome.. i just did a used tcm yesterday in a 11 regal wich is a global a vehicle and it did work, I have had the same vehicle fail and get locked up, so it may really depend on the actual used module itself.

no it is a bit different to me , although I think either Textron or Raytheon (not sure) of parent company but Teradyne designed them. Feel free to chime in if you know!. I will tell you that Ford, Honda, Mazda, Jag / Landrover will not work on the same windows computer without bootable partition to the best of my knowledge as the creators of these software use the same system resources....

@@BrianMann216 What I was getting at was the general aesthetic sense of the two systems. I saw them as eerily similar, but not the same. My meaningful hands on time with factory scan tools is limited to IDS and WiTECH2. I couldn't tell you who designed any of them either. I'm just excited when I can figure out how to make any of them work. I have seen Mazda's IDS and it was identical to Ford's IDS right up to the point you tried to plug the Ford IDS into a Mazda or vice versa. Then you catch scan tool hell for trying to use one IDS across both brands. My last shop had Mazda IDS and I'm pretty damn sure we still used our Ford VCM as the pass through for either. I only used the Mazda variant once or twice and that was years ago though. Is it safe to say Jag and Land Rover's scan tools would also be a variant of the IDS?

@@shauno3697 Yes i think Jag LR are very similar, I agree mazda and ford nearly identical, honda has the same " ding: sound as ford Ids

@@BrianMann216 early this summer I was unable to program a Jaguar TCM , drew technologies couldn’t even help. I was unable to even access the site . Another shop installed a used TCM it was in limp in then another shop installed a transmission still in limp in . The pcm and TCM were mismatched vin . The car went to the auction the customer wouldn’t put a new TCM in it and Jaguar wouldn’t program a used one .

@@geraldwilliams3550 I am not familiar with jag / LR at all.. there are huge differences between manufacturers, not to mention between models and yesrs... not really applied and oranges.. I do appreciate the information, will keep in mind if any one asks me.

I think the ihds software may have a reset procedure, not sure, many honda vehicles " reset" by letting them idle for 10 minutes.

Yes that should not be a problem to the best of my knowledge. Honda, Ford, Mazda, jag LR dont play well together.

I think autel 508 or 608 will take care of the ecm security , you do not need lsid for the reprogramming that I know of. Are modules new?

@@BrianMann216 Hi Brian, I checked with Autel, and these scan tool can't do programming. Especially , new models of Honda require the i_HDS system with immobilizer code which only the dealer can access. I just wonder if you can do program through TeamViewer software ? I can pay for you through Venmo or Zelle. Thanks

Software is expensive. J2543 passthru is expensive. Cheaper to pay a professional to do it.

I am not familiar with gna600, you have to have the pin code if you are using the honda tool.
