Thanks alot this saved me from The shop charging hundreds. My pilot had the crack and i almost got stuck on i95 in the bronx somehow made it home but this video was. God send thanks

nice. ordered part and will do this tomorrow! I'm assuming this is whats causing my rpm to fluctuate in between 1.5 and 2. It seems to struggle to stay in gear in the 40 mph range at times and i think its bc of the crack in my hose.

The cracked intake hose may or may not be causing all the issues that you are experiencing. However, replacing it will remove one possible cause and help correct sensor readings while delivering only filtered air to your engine. Let me know how it goes!

Is it also the same for a P1174 code? My 2012 Honda Odyssey EX has this code when I run OBD but there is no Engine Light. Could you please suggest if your solution works for P1174 as well?

It may be. the P1171 and P1174 are “soft” codes, meaning that when the sensor returns to normal readings, the code is stored, but the engine lights goes off. I suggest removing the rubber intake hose and inspect it for holes. If you find any, it needs to be replaced. It may be a good idea to have a replacement on hand, just in case you damage the old one during disassembly.

How do I clear the codes?

There are two common ways. First is to use the FIXD diagnostic tool that I used in the video or some other inexpensive scanner. They can all wipe codes. The second is to remove the negative battery cable for 60 seconds. While it is removed, turn on the headlights for a couple seconds to eliminate any latent sorted energy. Of course, with the second method, it will also reset your clock and stereo. What if it only reads one code po174?

Good question, while I would still recommend checking the intake hose for cracks or splits, there are various issues that could specifically trigger a PO174 code without also setting a PO171 code. Here are the most common: -Faulty mass airflow (MAF) sensor -Blockage in the fuel filter and fuel injectors -The fuel pump is getting weak -Weakening fuel pressure regulator -The vacuum connector or PCV line may have cracks or damage -Defective oxygen sensor -Issues with PCM -Leakage in the brake booster I hope this helps.
