The "pull out" function is designed to get you out of a too-tight parallel parking situation.
@IanSampsonRLO
@IanSampsonRLO 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah we have been testing it out a little more, and if you get crammed in by a couple of drivers it can help (although on testing its actually almost easier to just drive out manually lol)

I was about to say it's easier just to park than use that function. Then I saw Mario's parking attempt ha ha so maybe it is needed.

Do you remember the days when you were told to make sure that you were moving before trying to turn the wheel? I was told it was to reduce the pressure on the steering joints and in those days we didn’t have the luxury of power steering.

Correct, and tire wear (you see rubber marks on old heavy cars if you turned it on the spot).

According to the symbol displayed on the screen, the pull out feature is to get you out of a spot that you have parallel parked in. I suspect that it will be useful if someone has parked particularly close to your car (either in front or behind) while you were away.

To be fair to the car, it was probably trained on Japanese car parks, where if there is anything more than a sweet wrapper on the floor, a polite if possibly superfluous man, dressed in high-vis with a hard hat, will come out and put cones around it. Here in the UK however, many car parks are such that any parking manoeuvre resulting in the windscreen staying above the numberplate can be considered a success.

Just another example of why self driving is so much longer away than we hear. Even parking as quick or as well as a human is beyond cars. I am all for self driving purely on the basis of maintaining mobility in my old age.

Suppose you returned to the car & somebody had parked alongside you & you couldn't open the driver's door. A pull-out feature via an app on your phone could be very useful. I don't know if that's the purpose of the feature? The AI worked better than I thought it would.
@IanSampsonRLO

It would be useful to tell it to park nose on. Parking for charging a bit difficult otherwise and I regularly park somewhere where there is muddy grass at the end of the bay. I always go in forwards so that I can access the boot without getting muddy. It looks like the AI needs to go back to school. When you said barriers were hit and miss it made me laugh - hopefully always miss but given that it nearly drove into a wall. I imagine in a snowy car park there's no chance.

I know YouRubers never RTFM, but had you done so (page 550) you'd know that the pull is function is only for parallel parking spots, from which you can exit to the right or the left. This is also indicated by the on-screen graphic when you select the function. However, it not ideal, as on e it's pulled out it stops dead to hand control back to the driver - just when a following car would expect to move off briskly.

I don't mean to sound disrespectful about your competitively costly acquisition, apologies if I do, and I'm happy that you like what in my perception is a motorised shopping trolley but to me it looks like a doubly concave mobile matchbox with a charging-port lid resembling the top of a commode. But it has its bad points too. [News recently came my way regarding an individual and his particular Honda e - apparently these shores have produced a second purchaser in addition to your goodself it appears - and word is that one day the bloke went into a motor accessories shop wanting a windscreen wiper for it. He was told, "Sounds about right".]
