I’ve been wanting to get my motorcycle license and looking for a good starter bike. This bike looks fun and simple. I’ve rode 250cc dirt bikes, but not a true cycle yet. I’m liking this bike

if you want to ride something with the same power as what you've ridden before, the rebel has a 250cc varient

The rebel 500 is great if your getting off a 250 it feels the same but taller gearing in 5th and 6th. Power wise I come from tuned Harleys and ride this more often because if you use this motors whole rev range it's amazing

My man, My man ! You made a great vid here thanks. Let me tell you about making it home and aggressive riding. Last month I rear ended a pickup truck at 40 MPH. I had plenty of room but the truck stopped quick and when I braked the rear tire broke loose and slid off to the right. Well there was not enough room or time and I ate the tailgate. Three broken ribs a pneumothorax and collapsed left lung. A broken left ankle and road rash deluxe. If I had a family and a job we would all be fucked. All I can say is I bought the Rebel 500 ABS two Mos. later and I learned one thing. Wear all the gear all the time. Boots, shin and knee guards, armored jacket and a full coverage helmet, Gloves. Yes all this is a pain in the ass but it's better than the end results of a crash

Hey, I've been in and out of the San Diego area for quite some time now, but I don't really know too much about it. So that down comes to my request, I was wondering if maybe you can do a few videos where you explore some nice riding spots or even some local restaurants around just to show what SoCal has to offer. I think it'd be awesome to watch a local talk about it while also showing some people like me or even others that don't know much about some of the more hidden gems around the city or the SoCal area in general. Of course, it's just a suggestion, but I think it'd be pretty cool to watch some videos like this. Thanks for reading this, keep up the great work :)

@MotoMedicine904
@MotoMedicine904 3 жыл бұрын
Really depends on what you want to go for. Style wise I'm I'm fan of the Rebel especially because the aftermarket is larger for customizations. The Vulcan has forward controls which most taller people prefer, even though I'm 6ft and I feel fine on the Rebel. Vulcan has a bit more horsepower so it will feel a little bit faster but it is also heavier. Rebel will definitely feel like the more flickabke bike.

I am with you on family being at home. Reason I stopped riding a 600 found myself riding it too hard. I know have a duke 390 but although it handles superb in the corners, very perky and cool looking, light. But mate honestly the seat is like a brick wall and wind blast at higher speeds kills you after half an hour. Was looking at trading it in for a the rebel. Want something with the same grunt but better at touring or higher speeds over longer time capabilities and not going to be sore that quick. How does the two directly compare? Really appreciate your advice here. Have two weeks tops to make a decision lol

My Honda cm 400 custom from 1984 has 155000 km on it (aprox 96000 us miles) and has the same fuel milage as your new one. The engine has never been opened and i only had the original clutch replaced for the first time EVER about 2 weeks ago. The quality speaks for it self, does it not!! Btw, im thinking of buying a new 2021 500 rebel and sell my old cm 400, but then again that little 400 is in top shape and will probaly do 100000 miles more. A brand new 2021 500 rebel with NO xtras in Denmark is aprox 15000,-USD. Best regards from Denmark and stay safe and great video and infos on your bike

Hello MotoMedicine, would a Rebel 500 or 1100 be a better bike for a newbie?
@MotoMedicine904
@MotoMedicine904 2 жыл бұрын
Everyone takes to motorcycling differently. For some it clicks right away and others need up to a year or more to really get comfortable. For a newbie I would recommend a used Rebel 500 because you'll feel less bad about dropping a cheaper bike than an expensive new one.

10:55 Riding between cars like that would be illegal where I'm from(Vancouver, Canada). That is quite scary. Bikers are not allowed to ride between cars. But thank god for that, because people in this city don't know how to drive their cars anyway. They can't even stay in their own lane. You'd probably hit a few mirrors trying to do that here, on your first day.

That's not true. It depends on the compression ratio, tuning and power what Octane is recommended. A lot of small power small displacement bikes just need 87 US octane to run smooth. @@MotoMedicine904 i weight 250lbs and i am debating on getting the rebel 500 or shadow 750 as my first bike any advice

Theyre almost identical in terms of power. The Shadow makes more torque but the extra weight won't make it feel faster than the Rebel 500. The shadow is heavier and more substantial, better for a taller rider to spread out on and more comfortable for long rides. The Rebel has the light weight advantage for handling and better fuel economy.

I found a good deal on a non abs. Just on the fence if I should skip and look for an abs option. Any issues with needing abs on your bike?

@@akul209 not really an issue for me. Could be useful in an area with a lot of rain. Also good for newbies in case they grab a fistful of brakes in a panic stop.

See, this is why I can’t have nice things….anybody can make a video and claim to be an expert. I just watched 4 reviews on this exact bike - two said it had poor low-end torque and liked being revved high, two said it’s a low-end torque monster. This is why I watch youtube on mute most of the time, lol.

Top speed on a rebel 500 is @95mph, you must have been going downwind in a hurricane and only way 85 lbs. lol

The claimed top speed is actually 105mph, you may be confused by the Rebel 300's stats.

says he needs to calm down his riding habit and got a bike to reflect that. five minutes earlier he talks about pushing the rebel to 108mph to keep up with reckless friends. maybe you need new riding partners instead of a bike change.

I think you missed the point of what style of riding I needed to take a break from. I was in early recovery stages from knee surgery. I wanted something that didn't make me feel like dragging knee in corners and was also more relaxed on the bend of my knee while riding.
