I've done the test on my rebel 500. the tank averages about 180 miles. when the gas starts to flash you have 40 miles (max) until you run out if you drive light, or 30 miles if you drive heavy. i've done the test a couple of times until i got my gas tank completely empty.

Thanks for the info. For not such a big tank, the bike can go a pretty good distance if you're not heavy on the throttle.

@@Mudslidex1 But then again, nobody wants to drive like a grandma, if we are gonna drive bikes the least we can do is have some fun on them and go heavy on the throttle every now and then

Excellent video. Short, informative and not promoting anything. 5 ⭐️ Thanks brother I just purchased a 2022 Rebel 300. It’s my first bike and I’m very excited to get on it. I don’t have my license to ride it yet but I’m setting that up today. I figured I’d purchase it before the season of riding starts up here in Maine and the prices go up a little bit (which they will)

Thanks. Yeah I did the same thing when I bought my 500. I bought it first week in March about a month before I even had my license. But it will give you time to really get to know the bike before the weather really warms up and you hit those roads. Congrats on the purchase. You're going to love the Rebel, it handles really well and looks sharp. Happy and Safe riding!

I'm on my Rebel Mk1 every day, its my commute. 1.2 miles there and back, I ride home for lunch. So 4x1.2 mile runs a day. I reckon I'm getting 45mpg. Been riding for 40 years, all kind of bikes, big and small. Love the wee Rebel. Perfect for my situation. Steve, Belfast, Ireland

I just bought a used Rebel 500 in the Philippines (2018 with 6,000 km in perfect shape). I've been riding since 1975 in the U.S., but I feel unconfident on this bike since it's been 2 1/2 years since I wrote my CTX700 in Maryland. Here it is so hot and humid that I hesitate to ride much. I just need to get out there and ride. At the airport there is an old, unused runway I can practice skills on. Someday I hope to have a ridding buddy and then go exploring on my island of Leyte. To ride all the way around this island it is probably about 500 miles. There is not much in the way of remote countryside here since it is so densly populated (10 times as dense as the U.S.). But, riding is still fun.

Good to know I’m set on getting one of these after taxes come in I’ll probably get a little bit less mileage out of it from all the hills around here but a 500 is what I think will give me enough power to mile ratio to save a lot of gas money. I’m mostly looking to cheapen my daily drive to work even if it is only in the summer. I spend $50 a week driving to work

You're going to love the Rebel 500. It definitely has enough power to not be bored and it gets good mpg even when you get on the throttle. But if you're easy on the throttle you can easily get in the 60mpg range

That's what I read on honda forum around 150 miles, I'm considering this bike but also looking at the cb500x as that has 17L tank and can get at least 200 miles, I have a 125 Lexmoto Michigan at moment and stats state 260 miles so realistically around 220 off a full tank

I've heard of people getting up to 180 miles on a tank. The bike is really good on gas, but a bigger tank would have been nicer

If mileage is important to you and it soon could be, you can change sprockets. I've heard Bidan gas is supposed to go to 11 or even 13 dollars a gallon! Don't worry, our pumps can handle it. I have a Yamaha V Star 250 and am changing mine. Went from 16 teeth front and 42 teeth rear to 17 teeth front and 37 rear. Went from just under 80 mpg mostly, to 86. I'm not done. From what I read., this is the drastic change. I should have changed the front gears first, but was trying to follow advice. Oh well... My new sprocket is on order. Check back if interested in how it worked out. One guy made a similar change and rides the Rockets, He said the lower gearing is not a problem, and he could have gone to a smaller rear gear. Think his was 40 or 42 teeth in the rear. Enjoy your ride!

Thanks for the video. Just bought and have ridden my 2023 Honda Rebel about 1000 miles. I ride on the highway and cold weather. So far I’m getting about 45 mpg. I’m thinking once Ohio weather is warmer, I should get more like what you’re getting. Also I I’m wondering also how wind effects milage to what degree.

Thank you. My mpg was lower as well in the beginning as most bikes are during the break in period. You should see it start going up. Especially once it breaks in and temps rise. In warmer temps, the engine warms up to an efficient temperature faster; summer grades of gasoline can have slightly more energy; and warm air causes less aerodynamic drag than cold air. So you should start seeing better mpg soon. Of course that also depends on your riding style and you're not full throttling it all the time :)

Would be interesting to see someone do this test down to empty on flat or mostly flat roads. I plan to do this one day with my 2020 R3 once I buy a gas container to top off with after testing.

You don't have to run it dry. Fill it up, Record your odometer reading. Run it as dry as you dare, without adding fuel,. Next time you fill up, record your odometer reading. figure how many miles you rode. Divide that number by the amount of gas it took to fill to the same point. You have your mileage. Your welcome.

My Rebel 300 gets just under 68 MPG, so yeah, the numbers Honda gives aren't always real-world stats. The website states closer to 78.
@harryarmour669
@harryarmour669 Жыл бұрын
Its probably possible to get 78 but you would have to baby it which is kinda hard to do on a 300 sometimes when it doesn't have the biggest amount of power to start with haha

ive heard its pretty hard! I'm not sure exactly how you do it (but I'm sure theres a video somewhere) but Kawasaki does have the Vulcans which are decently similar and they do have larger tanks! I did my MSF course on a vulcan 250 and remember it being uncomfortable bc the tank was big so my legs were spread more, and on my rebel that problem isnt there
@Mudslidex1
@Mudslidex1 2 жыл бұрын
I agree. A bigger tank would be nice. However, the bike does get great gas mileage and a bigger tank would not only change the look, but it when full would also make the bike more top heavy. I guess Honda had to compromise for look/feel and functionality

After the break in, your mpg should go upna little.

Is the Honda rebel 500 capable of long road trips on the highway?
@Mudslidex1
@Mudslidex1 2 жыл бұрын
Sure. I mean it can handle the speeds and it gets good gas mileage. I find the seat to be the weakest link. Maybe upgrade to something g more comfy for longer rides. But as a bike it is more then capable
