IMHO, there are three bikes that area "always the right answer": Honda Shadow. Suzuki SV650, Kawasaki KLR 650. They're all affordable, capable, durable/reliable, approachable, and fairly forgiving of mistakes. I just picked up an 04 Shadow Aero and I love it.

Yes. The KLR 650 is legendary. I haven't ridden the SV650. However, it has a great reputation, and I hear great things. I also heard that the new transalp from honda is pretty good as well. Congratulations on your Shadow purchase!!!!!

I've got an 04 Aero 750 with just over 35,000 miles and it's still running just like a new one. I also have a 15 Honda CRF250L dual sport I adventure on. Honda definitely makes a fine product that hasn't ever let me down. I live in Florida so the Aero 750 is my daily rider to and from work. If Honda made a 1200 Shadow with the exact same styling as the 750, I think they’d sell a bunch. I bought my wife a new 2006 Shadow Aero and it was an excellent motorcycle. She had to stop riding, so we sold it a few years ago. My only fault with it was that it kinda ran out of steam on the interstate. To this day, I think the Aero is one of the best motorcycles ever made. Ride safe.

Ii Tim I hope all is well. I bought a 2004 Yamaha V-Star 1100 recently, needed an inexpensive second bike when my 2015 Honda Shadow Aero is in the shop for maintenance or repairs. Sometimes the shop will need to keep a bike for awhile during the early and mid season. I can’t go a week or two without some wind therapy. So riders pick up a second older inexpensive bike so that your never are left without a bike. Keep up the good work. Go Bills!

I have a '98 750 ACE out in the shed I've been meaning to get back on the road. Fun little bike, way easier to handle in the parking lot than my road King. My only complaints about the shadow was it was a bit cramped on long trips, pegs would have helped there obviously, and not sure what year yours is, but the real early 750 Shadows have mechanical lifters that need adjustment every couple thousand miles, not impossible to DIY but it's a pita.
@meandmyshadow783911 ай бұрын
Mine is a 2003. I haven't had that issue. No adjustment needed. The 750 can be a bit cramped if your taller but your correct different pegs will definitely help.

@@meandmyshadow7839 Oh not taken that way:) The issue is that with working remote I no longer have ride to the office. I have got store runs down to once every two weeks so that is too big a run for the bike...unless maybe I get a small trailer. How much older is old enough? I know I can’t take any Honda to my local dealer than 2000. They simply won’t work on it. I’m 76 and I can see well enough to get around, I can change my own oil but when it comes to all the buttons and pieces of plastic on my 2015 Goldwing is more than I have patience for. To me the oldest Shadow I’m looking at is 2011 when they started using fuel injection. I’ve been as far as central South Carolina, carrying money for the purchase and it turned out to be a scam. I was lucky to get the drop on these yokels or I would still be there. I’ve bought more than five vehicles on EBay and another marketplace with no trouble but that one stopped me cold.
@meandmyshadow783911 ай бұрын
That is a good question. I haven't had any trouble with dealers not working on my bike yet, however I have not had anything done except for new tires. I will let you know as I'm going to have the dealer change my chain soon and will definitely ask what they will or won't work on. Based upon the year.
@kimhorton610911 ай бұрын
@@meandmyshadow7839 with my last four bikes I’ve taken them in every two years for a complete fluid change. Radiator, brake, clutch, rear drive and forks along with an air filter I have done every year. It’s a bit pricey but you can tell the bike is better every time. If I can’t get that done I won’t keep a bike.

I am in Australia, do you guys take them to Honda dealers? If so why not an independent workshop. Here they will work on whatever you bring in.

@@pingchow4640 I move every four or five years and make it a point to find a dealer. There aren’t a lot of independent motorcycle repair shops in the states that work on Hondas. Honda V twins are a disappointment. I’ve owned almost all Honda’s and had a 2000 750 ace and currently a 2003 shadow Sabre 1100. I’d take a 750 4cy over a v twin anytime. Shadows are slow cumbersome machines. Sorry if I hurt your feeling but I’m an old biker that don’t bs people. I paid $1850 for the 1100 and have regretted not waiting for a 4cyl even if they cost twice what a shadow does. Cruiser = slow. There’s no reason a cruiser shouldn’t have some balls like the Vmax. If you can’t go faster than 80-90 mph it’s not hey bike. Hitting the brakes don’t always work. Sometimes you’ll need some extra power.

No feelings hurt here. All opinions are always welcome and believe me I know not everyone is in love with the 1100, the shadow, or even Hondas V Twin. It's also my understanding that the 4cy has a ton of get up and go. Great comment 👍 and thanks for taking the time to watch!!! Always appreciated!!!

There is a lot of stupid sh1t on this bike, like a fuel pump that isn't actually much of a fuel pump. Rear seat pegs that are way too high up for you to put your feet up on Cylinder heads you can't remove without tearing the whole bike apart Stator coils you can't remove without draining the engine oil. A turn signal that you only can push in to turn off, not just click also back the reverse way. You don't realize how bad this bike is designed until you compare it to an old school Honda air cooled inline twin from the 80's you've been riding for years.
