Since when is a 750cc motorcycle considered a small bike? Good god man, a Honda Rebel 250 is a small bike, a 750 is a midsize bike and a 1100 and above is a BIG bike.

I got my Shadow 750 a couple of months ago and just recently took the MSF course. Compared to those bikes, the Shadow 750 is huge. I guess it's small when you compare it to the American cruisers its imitating.

Started on a 250cc honda rebel. Then upgraded to a shadow 750 spirit. Then totaled it when I was 22. Now I'm 32 and 485 pounds and just bought a 2013 shadow 750 spirit to ride to the gym 👍😎👍

I have the exact same bike as in this video. Bought it brand-new from the dealership. After making a few modifications to it like Cobra exhaust, Cobra high air intake, Cobra fuel management system and a Mustang seat it runs like a bat out of hell. I have rode this thing all over Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma without any problem and can keep up with the big bikes with no problem. These 2012 Honda Shadow Spirits are great bikes and I wouldn't trade mine for anything in the world.

I know this post is from 2 years ago: how is it on the highway? Suspension travel? how's the narrow front tire track on expansion joints and seams on the highway? I'm currently shopping for my next bike and looking for something nice and comfortable that can still be tossed around on the twisty back roads but stable on the highway.

I visited Guatemala last year (2018) and saw many 125cc bikes getting the job done. I think too many Americans are trapped in the "Bigger is better" mentality and miss out on a lot of the fun smaller displacement bikes offer. When I started riding, 250's were called beginners bikes, now the 750's are? That's just crazy.

@@BEEBEE159 yeah,I remember when I lived in S America as a child,they had...was it Islos 175cc or 225? they were considered the standard every bidy aimed for. But in America when you are next to a big truck you feel the wind vortex so much more in a small bike,and it depends what you use the bike for. I prefer a medium size in the 700's but I don t do long travel,otherwise I d go bigger.

I just got a 2013 shadow sprit and what an amazing first bike. I dropped it the 2nd day of empty parking lot driving, but after that I have been driving it on open roads and everything. Been riding for about 2 months now. It was just that first fear of using the throttle always using the front brake, after that so much easier to ride when I got over that fear. And the bike is so easy to maneuver with plenty of power

For years 60s, 70s 80s an 1000cc was the max unless you got a Harley 1200 then Kawasaki made the Z1300 in the early 80s .. ...900cc was the main biggest bike for sports and most rode 750cc and back even earlier ,,1950s, 500cc single pot bikes were what the average guy rode . I love how a 750 to 900 are now,,, small ...beginner ,,leaner bikes lol , In Australia the Max power a learner can ride is 46kw so most 500cc and some pruned back 650cc , , One thing that annoys me about people and Cruisers is people saying they have no Power or enough for overtaking ,, Its a cruiser ,, you shouldn't be wanting to go over 70mph,,,, Over here on cruisers from 650cc to 1200cc the Max speed on the Speedo is 180kph ( 650cc) ,,, 200kph (750cc to 900cc ) and 220kph ( 1000cc to 1200cc ) Hardly fast enough to peel the skin off your face hey ,, BUT what people are going to admire your ride zipping past at 70mph GO SLOW AND STEAL THE SHOW ,,, : )

How fast were people driving in the 60s, 70s, and 80s? I don't know but I bet they drove slower back then. In the US, different states have different speed limits. What are the speed limits like in Australia? Where I live, the speed limit is 55mph but we all (well most of us) drive much faster than that. If you want to safely merge onto a highway then you need something that can get up to speed quickly. And if someone is driving really slow then it could be very useful to have a bike that can pass and get into another lane without being squashed by other cars going 15-20mph faster. Longer trips may have to be taken into account as well. A 5-speed 750 cruiser may not have the gearing and suspension that's comfortable for a long trip at highway speeds. It really depends on the rider. Many riders have taken very long trips on bikes with lower CCs that aren't considered to be "touring bikes". I'm only 38 but I have the aches and pains of an older person but I want to take a long trip one of these days. I have a Honda Shadow 750 and I love it but it's my first bike and I've only been riding for 7 months.

I suppose it depends on how old you are. When i started riding bikes a 650 was a big bike, think Brando Thunderbird 6t. The CB 750 Honda come out and it was wow! Monster! so just becos they started making bikes with engines the size of trucks dont make 750s small, it just makes 1800s bigger. A friend of mine crushed his ankle just losing his balance on one of the huge fully dressed over the top Harleys. Ps im going back on bikes & looking for a shad

ringhunter 100, I have a 2001 Shadow Spirit. Look at changing the Rear Sprocket from stock to one with 38T. You lose a little out of the hole, but reduce revs at highway speeds. No need to change the Front Sprocket. Add a K&N Filter and rejet the carbs for a little gain in HP. I am adding a Cobra Slash Cut Exhaust 1374SC for better recognition from other 4-wheelers. I also switched to all Metzler Tires. Look at SMW Project out of Poland for their Throttle Control, and MTC Voyager for a trike conversion kit. Harley and Gold Wing Trikes start at $25k to over $40k. The Voyager kits range from $4k to $6k and save a lot of money for gas & goodies. You may also want some LED Glow LED's for better visibility at night. Skene Design P3 brake/turn lights also improve rear visibility for cars following you. Ride safe and ride often!

I bought one of these back in I believe in 04'. drove it off show room floor sraight to highway and turned it loose. BIG disappointment! petered out at 115 mph. in its defense, I was coming off a kz 1000 and was expecting a fast cruser at 1100 cc. beginner bike for sure! beautiful bike, yellow and black with lots of chrome. But it was just too weak. went to meanstreak 1600 and that was much much better! if honda would put 1600 or even 2000 cc on same bike, I'd buy in a heart beat. Ride was awesome and smooth shaft drive. perfect for a beginner. but if you are coming off say a 750 honda or kawasaki and want to move into a cruser that will satisfy, bump up to 1500 or bigger or you will be disappointed. Good riding! " keep it between the ditches!

I wouldnt get a 2003. I just bought a 2013 with 6k miles for $3500. I learned to NEVER buy new and dont buy too old. Around 4 years old is the sweet spot.

Brother, what are the notable differences between the Aero/Spirit/Phantom?
@robertbrandywine
@robertbrandywine 6 жыл бұрын
Well, the Spirit isn't made anymore but the answer to your question will depend on the year. Here's a website you can do comparisons of these 3 bikes. Just find a year that your are interested in. www.powersportsnetwork.com/enthusiasts/new_vehicle_compare.asp?vehicle1=259274&year2=2012&mfg2=1&vehicle2=259276&go=Go I think in the newer years the difference is mainly looks. If you like the full retro look, then go with the Aero.

I can't decide on a bike that's affordable and a good first entry bike, besides from finances it's all about style. If I did get this bike it would be a 2007 and totally stock and ugly. I would rebuild it but it doesn't seem like there's much you can do to this bike. Any ideas?
