I have been riding since the 1970's. Now I am a Disabled American Veteran, I can no longer handle my 1980 Honda GL1100 Interstate, fully dressed out bike. I bought a 2004 Honda Shadow Aero VT750C, it is much easier to handle for me, and the American Legion Riders require a 750 or larger bike. This bike is perfect, for me & my wife to ride!

As a 400+lb man who is also 6'3, who currently rides a 2007 Shadow Aero 750... yeah, I was surprised at how well that bike does. I have no complaints. I certainly want to upgrade to a bigger bike, but considering I had pretty much no riding experience before, this was the perfect "starter bike" for me. I've had it for about 2 years, put 5,000 miles on it. Very happy with it.

I’m right around 330lbs myself, my big concern was getting a bike that didn’t look like it was up my arse but was also under the 800cc insurance hike we have here. Looks like a shadow 750 is the one.
@joemann7971
@joemann7971 4 жыл бұрын
@@MrAceofspades327 I was almost considering getting a bigger bike as my first bike, but since I'm also a beginner (and I'm also around 330 lbs), I was convinced from this video that the Shadow 750 was more than big enough to start off. I absolutely love the bike. I got a killer deal on a 2019 from a dealership my wife works with. I walked out the door with under $10K total for gear, (helmet with bluetooth/communicator, jacket, gloves), the bike, extended warranty, gap insurance, and that was all including taxes. The bike literally had 0 miles on it. I am pumped about this bike. I was originally wanted an indian scout, which has more than double the power of the Shadow, but considering that it costs almost twice as much, I think I made the right choice. Plus, my wife also wants to learn to ride. So, she could probably take over this bike when I outgrow it.

Hilarious, Sean. Those 750 Shadows will really surprise you with the power. I am 6’3” 280lbs, I rode a friend’s Shadow, a few years back at 75-80 mph on the highway for several hours. That thing had tons of power. They are excellent bikes.

I live in Germany where I'm able to ride 160 km/h (100mph) on a highway with my Shadow Aero 2014. The seat is very comfortable. It's a great shaft driven bike. It has enough torque and power to ride 50 km/h in the very final gear at 1500 rpm, which is nice. I have no desire revving high the engine and no one is in my way. Honda Germany has equipped this particular motorcycle with sissy bar, top case, two bags, alarm system, navigation, ABS+CBS, fuel injection, catalytic converter, windshield, and so on. I have no need to swing my leg over any other motorcycle anymore :-) PS. My GPS remembers the last fastest route. It shows up in the left down corner. I was 164 km/h quick just yesterday. You can see it for yourself on my youtube channel.

Thank you guys for myth busting that I’m getting ready to buy my very first motorcycle and always love the Honda shadows but everybody always told me I was to big to ride one ( I’m 6’1 225) the shadow didn’t have enough power to get up to highway speed with a guy my size

Richard Littlecreek I'm 6'1" 190lbs. I rode a friends shadow 600 a few times. The smaller engine was noticeable, but was plenty enough for me to ride fine. Imo buy the bike you like the best, not for anyone else.

I'm 5'8 180lbs and constantly cruise at 80mph and can get up to 90+ with little effort with my Shadow Phantom.

I’m 5’11 238lbs yes I am slightly fat but I’m dropping the 38lbs as we speak haha 😂 But I ride a vt700 and I get up to highway speed like it’s no problem and my bike is from 1984

I have this exact bike and I'm 6'1", 215 lbs. I had her cruising at 75mph earlier today like nobody's business. It's a great bike, you won't be disappointed.

Richard Littlecreek I have a 750 and I'm smoking sport bikes with inexperienced riders. I get compliments about it all day too. Get you one, you won't regret it.

I just got the 2005 aero with less than 5k miles, it runs and rides like new.. It's to small from pegs to back of seat and I'm only 5ft 9. On the highway it Has to be run at uncomfortably high rpms just to keep up with traffic. It needs a 6th gear really bad. They should have reshaped the gas tank for an extra gallon. NO FUEL GAUGE, NO SELF CANCELLING BLINKERS. Had those back in the 70s. Bought this bike spur of the moment, good go around town, nothing more.

it wasn't that long ago that the 750 was the biggest machine on the road, and it made thousands of cross country trips with absolutely no problem. sure the newer bigger heavier decked out cruisers are more comfortable. the choice is do you want to pay 8k for an economy ride or 27+k for a deluxe ride

In 1981, I traveled Chicago to east coast to gulf coast to west coast back to Chicago on a 1969 Honda 450 Twin. I was 6'1" and only about 190lbs in those days. I could cruise at around 75, once the Harley FX full fairing I had installed settled into a position where it wouldn't cause steering shimmy. Going through the salt flats I opened her up and topped out at about 95mph . That bike was rated at about 45 hp factory fresh, and it was well into middle age when I rode it cross country, loaded with my camping gear. The idea that we "need" massive horsepower to go on the highway is just wrong. How much over the speed limit do we "need" to travel? There's not many people purchasing even the smallest cars with the idea that they need to be able to get up to 100 mph in order to safely pass a semi truck

"Double, with two people". If you intended it or not, that was funny. I own a 2003 Shadow Spirit 750. I live in the mountains of western Maryland. No trouble hauling my six foot two, two hundred and twenty pound ass up the mountains.
