You are right. In the video I put the boot back on before I fastened the clip. Where the video cuts, I did go back and fasten it, realizing I didn’t latch it before the rubber. My mind was so flustered with how difficult it was to get it unplugged. This bulb has since been removed.

That definitely looks like a better style. The design looks like it would shine the light the proper direction versus the one I installed in this video. It kind of threw me off seeing everything in Euro’s. 😆 Do you live in the UK?

@@juesila857 okay. Thank you! It just seemed like an odd lighting pattern, so I thought I would ask. It has very defined edges to the lighting pattern.

I’m not entirely sure. On this setup, I just unplugged the old bulb, and plugged the new in. I know there are models out there that require a little different installation, but I am definitely not a professional in that area. Wish I could be a better help to your question.

Almost sounds like something is loose. Loose connection or the housing may be loose? If it is the filament in the bulb if it is a halogen? I wouldn’t think the sputtering and flickering to be related. Sounds like the carb may be acting up a little bit. Hope both are an easy fix for you!

I am sure the bulb would, as I think most are the same. I would measure the housing and find out the length of the bulb and so on before buying one, though. I wouldn’t recommend this bulb, though. 😆

I haven’t put a different one in yet. I ended up going back to the stock one for now.

I have heard that before where some people are using the resistor or convertor to be able to run an LED. This one was just a plug n play style. It must be built in to the bulb perhaps. There are people completely changing out the entire bucket to put in a daymaker style bulb. I would imagine this would also require some kind of adapter. If your battery is more than 5 years old, then I would be looking to put a new battery in anyways, so then you would know. If it’s not that old, then I don’t know enough about how to trouble shoot it for you unfortunately.

@@TWOWHEELD it’s a brand new battery. I’m looking into just replacing the entire housing and going that route. For now I just had to switch back to halogen. I don’t ride too much at night anyway.

Yeah, it must be the lack of the resistor then. That’s how I am as well. This bulb in the video pretty much sucks in the dark. 😆 We don’t ride this bike in the dark much either, so it works for the time being as well.

LED's headlight bulbs use less amperage than halogens and i've never known LED headlight bulbs to need a resistor, it's usually the turn light bulbs and some times taillights, it might have been something to do with the with the LED you bought, there are some that are made to be used with can bus systems. I've switch every bike i've had to LED headlight bulbs and never had a problem with the bulb cutting out, i have had problem with light pattern when i didn't use a conversion LED that was specifically for use in halogen housings, the chips in non-conversion LED's are placed different usually to work in projector style housing.....

Thank you for watching and commenting! The stock bulb was definitely brighter. Lol. I feel the blue hue has burned off this a bit and is brighter now. It is good visibility during the day, and this bike really doesn’t see the streets much in the dark. The adjustment on it is good, it is just that the bulb doesn’t project out. I thought the blue hue would have been pretty cool look on the bike, but the function wasn’t what I expected. At some point, I will get a different bulb for it. As far as adjustment, it’s been a while, but yes, I believe what you described is the adjusters. In time, maybe you will see another headlight video on this bike from me. 😆 There is a follow up video I did of this bulb in the playlist of you would like to see the bulb after it burned in a bit more. I would just search your favorite motorcycle parts store , eBay, Amazon, etc., to see if you can locate some based on your appropriate model.

@@TWOWHEELD done that a they say is they don't know or not compatable... I have since bought some 6ohm resistors and I try myself to sort it. I hot two ba15 running light led bulbs but they don't work either

The glass and everything else seems to be okay with it. The only thing is, this particular bulb is junk in the dark. It is nice and brings during the day, and has a cool blue glow to it, but I could see better in the dark with the factory stock bulb.

I feel the same way. I honestly haven’t had it in the dark other than that one night, but I was disappointed with the pattern it shines out. I didn’t expect much for less than $25, but I probably should have sent it back as well. Looks really cool during the day, though!

Most definitely! That was one thing I overlooked to pick up before I started the project. I at least mentioned it in the video. lol.

I haven’t. I tried a couple different ideas, but it didn’t work. I have the stock halogen back in. Some day I might try to retrofit something different.

Yeah, I did do some adjustments. It just was not the right bulb for the application. It just did not shine out like I expected. I have since removed this bulb and put the stock halogen back in. I recently did a video talking about this bulb and why I removed it. I am in search of something new.

It looks great during the day! With the summer days, it doesn’t see any darkness. I’m pretty sure if I were riding it in the dark, I would be changing it out right away. I wasn’t impressed with the immediate look of this bulb in the dark. Not sure if that helps you any?

That’s understood. There is a lot that goes on off camera in this video, and I was unable to release the bulb the way it was supposed to be, so I had to resort to the way I removed it. It was either that, or not get it out at all. I wasn’t able to get the bulb loose from the connector, so I had to improvise. That was a while back now, and I have since had this opened back up twice and put the stock halogen bulb back in, and am now able to install and reinstall it as it is supposed to be. It never shined out like I expected and then it ended up dying after maybe 100 hours of use tops. Half the bulb stopped working. If you find the “Shadowday” folder in my playlist, there are a couple videos in addition to this one. I will drop them below.

That’s how I thought it was going to be when I opened everything up, but it wasn’t that simple for some reason. I’m guessing this was all stock, but maybe someone had changed it in the past? These were my initial thoughts as well. That it is terrible and I was better off the way it was. I did a longer term review video a couple months back that shows the bulb improved somehow. Check it out. It’s almost like maybe some of the blue burned off, making it a bit brighter. The video is called AOLEAD Headlight Review or something on that order.

Thank you for the suggestion. I will be changing this out again at some point. When I ordered it, it wasn’t supposed to be blue. It was supposed to be clear I thought. It has worked for the time being, but now that our days are getting shorter, I’m thinking it should be changed out, soon.

The angle is good, the bulb just sucks. 😆 It will get me through the summer as it works well for a day time visibility bulb and the fact I don’t do much night riding on the Shadow. I will be looking at better options. Thought I would try the $22.99 Amazon special, and was let down. Thanks for checking it out!

Yeah…. This headlight was really blue when I first installed it and your phone and tv aren’t the issue, it is definitely the bulb. 😆 The blue hue has since burned off a little and it’s better, but not the brightest. Yeah, the halogen isn’t very bright. Wish they would put LED on all new bikes. I have a friend/subscriber that bought a Harley bulb that has indicators in it as well. Looks nice and looks bright, but you would have to cut and splice some wires.

I didn’t have all those options with mine! I had two choices and I don’t think they sent me the one I chose. 😂 I will try it for a while. Definitely will be seen better during the day. The night time look I will have to determine if it is something I like yet or not. Seems to shine out in a weird pattern. Not sure if you could tell in the video compared to yours?

@@stuffwithdono9304 I left the adjustment screws where they were from the old bulb for now. I might play around with them a little bit. It just seems like the light should spread out a bit more in my opinion.

I will double check the adjustment.

Couple reasons. One is I didn’t want to get the oils from my skin on the bulb I took out. I wasn’t sure if I would ever put it back in again. Oils on the bulb can burn it out faster. Another reason is it helps prevent fingerprints to clean up off of the housing. I have learned over the years, it’s just easier to out a pair of gloves on. I see this a lot in tons of other videos, both automotive and motorcycle based. Thanks for your question.

@@TWOWHEELD oils on the bulb was only a concern with the old halogen bulbs, you clearly have a LED bulb there and oils not a concern. You have no idea what you're talking about stop trying to educate on something you're not educated in

@@Outlaw--JesseB wearing gloves can be for many reasons other than just oils on a bulb. It also helps cut down on the amount of clean up afterwards. If you watch a lot of other install videos, in a wide array, a lot of people will have gloves on. Thank you for contributing a negative comment to the conversation. Pretty sure I stated I have never changed a bulb on a Shadow before, and that I am not a professional. Maybe you jumped to write your comment before you actually finished the video? I see you must have deleted your other negative comment regarding the spring clip. It got put back in so you can relax. Things came apart different due to not being able to get the bulb detached how it was supposed to. Anyways, ✌🏼

Oil off of your will ruin the bulb

Yeah…. In this video, this new bulb was terrible. I did a follow up video to this bulb and it was actually a little better. I think the blue burned off quite a bit, even though during the day, it still shows blue. I would definitely recommend a different bulb though. 😆

Thank you for your concern and for your professional comment. I see you have put yourself out there and have a channel of your own to try to help the motorcycle community decide on if doing a bulb replacement themselves is for them or not. Also, this video shows what the bulb looks like after install as well, to help people decide if they like it. So until you buy your own recording equipment, and start making videos to try to help people, you have no place to come on this platform to try to insult someone. I could easily just delete your comment and leave this alone, but I like to keep things real on my channel. As far as the light install goes, where the light was disconnected is the only place it disconnects from the harness. At the plug. The place that looks like a disconnect above, is not a disconnect. Believe me, I checked. There is a metal style clip that flips down to lock everything into place. Everything at the end is secured as it was originally secured. I didn’t use dielectric grease at the time. That is true. I thought I had some but didn’t. If I remember correctly, I mentioned it should have dielectric grease in the video. I have since, went back and put some in. Unlike some other videos you may see, I am not a professional shop. I show the mistakes, and the challenges in my videos, so it is true and exactly how it is. Not all installs go as smooth as one would hope for. My political views have nothing to do with this video. For anyone to bring something like that into a comment that has nothing to do with politics, shows their true character, and is a troll in my opinion. I can say, I am definitely not a liberal, but not like it matters what I say to you anyways. Maybe should stop and look at things a little differently, and learn to appreciate anyone who is making a video to try to help people. Ultimately, thanks for taking the time to watch the whole video. @@davehunt6420 I haven’t committed to a different bulb, yet. This one is very visible, it just doesn’t put enough output on the road in the dark. I had a company reach out to me to test one of their bulbs, but I haven’t decided on that partnership yet. When I get a different one, I will be sure to do a video on it!
