In Canada the Talon X (only available model) costs $27,999 CAD, is naturally aspirated (104hp), has 28” staggered tires, and includes 2.0 shocks. The Polaris RZR Pro Sport costs $27,999, is turbocharged (181hp), has 30” square-stance tires (more desirable), and includes 2.5” shocks. To be comparable to the Polaris one would need to purchase the Honda-approved Jackson Racing turbocharger kit (~$7,280 CAD), 30” tires (~$1,000 CAD), and there isn’t even 2.5” shocks available for the Talon X (however, 2.5” shocks for the Talon R are ~$2,759 for the front plus ~$3,512 CAD for the rear). Thus, it would require ~$14,400 CAD in additional equipment (total of $42,399 CAD) to make the Talon X similar to the RZR Pro Sport. While I acknowledge square-stance tires may appear be a subjective opinion, it would appear what’s what most owners are doing to gain predictable handling and reduce under steer. So with this cost in mind, do you still think it’s worth it?

It sounds like the Polaris would be a better choice financially. The only advantage of the Talon X is better turning radius over the R. The R and 2.5 shocks have many more options for performance like the fox iQS. IQS isn’t available for 2.0 shocks. I don’t understand why Honda would not make the R available in Canada and other countries. Polaris really depends on how you use it. Clutches rarely last 5k miles, and the price of belts add up if you run it hard, like on a racetrack. Polaris is notorious for wheels bearings and suspension bushings going out, and typically not super reliable. So, it depends on how you’re going to drive it and how much. I average 5k miles per year, so Polaris it canam is not an option for me.
@peterpann96193 жыл бұрын
Absolutely not and the talon rides terrible compared to the xp and the rc.
@juddmaddix52993 жыл бұрын
He’s trying to be nice and not just say the Polaris is junk. There will be a lot of guys that will disagree with this statement but Polaris Quality is WAY behind Honda or Yamaha. So, get what you pay for.

Hey Russel. I also have the honda oem winshield and upper doors. can you tell me what side mirrors you are using? I haven't really had much luck with those.
@gravesru3 жыл бұрын
I haven’t found a good option yet. I like the canam mirrors that mount directly on the doors itself. But they’re expensive, like $200

I saw a reply where you said the top speed was 83mph, Does that mean with the reflash on the JR turbo set up you cant remove the speed limiter?
@gravesru2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately no, you can get 83mph with 32” tires. The speedometer will still say 75mph, but gps says 83. With 32” tires, just add 10% to whatever the speedometer says.
@ryanolep10782 жыл бұрын
You would get more speed less torque but messing with the transmission gearing.

Thanks for the Honest review. Don't worry about airflow, it's nearly impossible to impact much with the intake track. Additional pressure ratio on the compressor is what you would see if it was horribly restricted, which is very hard to actually produce in my experience. As for your hot side fasteners.... running diesels for years I learned to run all stainless hardware and use mechanical locks. Place a Nord-lock washer under each fastener and you will never, ever have to tighten them again. Also.... always tighten them HOT. I know.... that sounds dumb, but a hot re-torque will always result in significant fastener movement even directly after you tightened them cold. Nord-locks and hot re-torque one time. You will never touch them again, promise. Mcmaster Carr has the Nord-locks. They are awesome.
