The MV actually shows that they shuts down the old blackpink. And the references are actually given to show that their old songs are shut down and this is the new era of BlackPink. Easter eggs are really given from the teaser.

I feel like they really proved a lot of people wrong with this Album , pink venom had a lot of conversation with it sounding a lot like older songs and keeping up with the same flow , but it’s shocking and even relieving hearing a new sound .. Shut down really proved that they’re stepping into a New era and stepping away from the old and into the new 🖤

I think the reason was because people did realise that their comeback lack creativity till HYLT era and their songs did sounded similar to their previous ones and critisise Teddy to stop making remakes after remakes of their popular songs by them finally here we are I am honestly happy that they got a new concept musically

I love how they referenced most of their previous MV’s. Starting it off with Jennie on the blinged on tank like in DDDD, Lisa on that SUV like in Boombayah, Jisoo with the umbrella shot also like in DDDD, Rosé on the world like in Whistle. After the first chorus with the raps Jennie in the bathtub with the match and Lisa on the bridge like in Playing With Fire, Jisoo with the photos and Rosé swinging on the chandelier referencing DDDD again.

I love all the references, their outfits and the MV. I also like the fact that this song doesn't follow the same formula. It's not my favorite title track too but it's really good, I personally like it. BUT, the whole album is just amazing! It's really black and pink and I really love each b-side and their voices just get better and better!! I had high expectations and I was not disappointed it all. With this album, Blackpink again made me confirm why they are one of my favorite groups. I really missed them so much. 💕💕

@@yyc4031 you can still follow the formula even if you sample out a song. That's literally very easy to do..yet they took only "two strands" from the original and slowed it down and added heavy base and a hip hop beats to it. Sampling off songs and adding their own essence is a very rare thing in kpop (red velvet did that once). Who would have thought to add hip hop heavy beats to a beautiful Paganini la Campanella? TEDDY DID. Also sampling and remixing...two are different things.

As a 63 year old who has been a full-on metalhead for over 50 years, one would not think I would listen to anything K-Pop. This song is complete fire, without the need for thrash. The beat is hard, the drops are sick, the music video is film quality, the ladies voices are all excellent and uniquely different, and they come at you with attitude!!! For a quick perspective, my all-time favorite band is Lovebites, an all-female metal band from Japan that formed in 2016. So yeah, they top my list over greats like Zeppelin, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Slayer, etc. If you have a chance, take a listen to the title track from their newest album, Judgement Day. They have an official music video and a brand new live performance of it posted on their official KZfaq channel. Dual leads that can shred, a technical bassist, an insane drummer, an operatic-like voice, and they play fast!!

It can also mean that when three people who are actually celebrities are combined together makes = jennie. It simply means her power is equal to 3 people combined. Cause the word "you" refers to all the wannabes which is a PLURAL not just "one" wannabe. Becoz obviously she clearly said "bunch" of wannabes.
