The tank has being upgraded from a WW2 Russian T34-85 to a much more powerful post war American m48 Patton (the tank that destroyed North Korean T34's in the Korean war), Lisa's garbage truck is now full of cash, their scooters upgraded to a Ferrari and Rosés Plymouth Barracuda upgraded to a Lamborghini. This song seem to show them both flexing their success and also moving on to better things.

They SHUT IT DOWN This song throws SO much shade at their haters and doubters. The MV is an homage to previous MVs, it's jam packed with visuals and lyrics you have to watch it over and over to discover things. This is why they are where they are. yes, this these type of songs really does her voice justice, she doesn't need to strain her voice like in previous high pitched songs.. these songs are more chill, lower tone. not like she couldn't sing, she was amazing, but her voice is deeper and this type of music, along with rock, ballads and rnb makes her voice shine.

@@ORIA_1125 We associate so much high pitch tone voice with singing abilities. That's totally wrong. Even for a reason in chorus there a different voice types: Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass. I think that's why music producers don't do this too much because public in general don't appreciate it. A good example of a company using the abilities of idols is Sment with SNSD specially their last 2 albums. They are a roller coaster of emotions.

Shut down isn't just about a song for their haters. Shut down is their way of reseting their music by calling back to their previous hits and shutting it down (closing the door thingy). It means they're giving credits to their past songs that gave them success they have now, but they also want to discover new area. There's something written about "Blackpink in the new area". In the last part of the mv, they entered an elevator and press the "up" button which symbolizes they're going to their next destination, which is above/higher than their past songs. It's like their going to the next level. It's also a perfect timing to release this song since they're renewing their contract. It's like there will be new sound for blackpink for their next 7 years in the music industry.

You can see Playing with fire with Lisa in the beginning, Boombayah starting with the 4 members in the car, 4D has a also a great place here, whistle with Rosé and the Earth thing everything in this song expresses that even with a 2yrs hiatus they never really were absent from the kpop music industry. And it's also a message to the haters (just check tweeter) at the end before the elevator, remebers me of the last set in Stay

I love that they changed it all. The bridge was fire and now they "making it rain". The tank is shinier and glammed up. The Jennie tub scene, that was all white in the original and now it's black. Jisoo was having pics by papz before and she fell now she grown and doing her own. Rosè chandelier swing was light colored and now it's black. And I believe the globe is different. I love that they did this and then got in the elevator and went UP. The music video for ‘Shut Down’ is pretty much an homage to their past work. Also hints at how much they have grown and improved over the years, Like in Boomayah they was riding scooters with the pink background going by and in this video they all riding in a luxury car with same background. Jisoos seen with Umbrella in Dududu was raining and dangerous, in this video it was raining money for her and it was safe. Jenny tank was upgraded and had extra Headlights and gadgets on it. Lisa's had a garbage truck in Boombyyah and in this video she has leather bags filled with money and even her boots were upgraded lol. Also Rose was laying on floor crying in her green fur Gone. in this video she is dancing in her green Fur. Then later sitting on top of the Black and Pink world signifying there global popularity. There were also lots of signs with the names of there solo projects like Lalisa and Gone througout the video, i wonder if Jisoos solo is hidden in there someplace. Im sure there are a ton more easter eggs that have yet to be found. Also i got that they are shutting down the past and at the end take the elevator up to new and better things.

Agreed re: Jisoo's melodic rap parts - extremely satisfying. What's also satisfying is watching a reaction from someone who knows their past MVs well and thus recognized and appreciated the many throwbacks scattered throughout.Thank you! Finally, this latest album has given me a newfound appreciation for Jennie. I try not to have favorites, but if I did it probably wasn't her in their past work, but to me she's been the overall MVP in the last two releases.

Yeti, another great reaction. I have always really appreciated your breakdowns and analysis. You haven’t been a blink for that long but you still caught several of the call backs of old mvs which several “og” blink reactors let totally go over their heads. So kudos. That said, what always impresses me most is your pointing out of every member and their awesomeness! Lately it seems as though the absolutely hateful solo stans get worse now even including some reactors. I always LOVE your reaction and it's even more amazing that you didn't watch the teasers, etc. Honestly, this song is deeper than it seems. Like their lyrics are very savage. Basically almost half of the album is actually talking about haters. While the other half is about love
