SHINee's Lucifer dance practice solidified my love for these men. But seeing their Everybody dance practice was what made me go "Holy f*ck. I'm SO BLESSED to stan these incredibly talented people." Tony Testa and Gregory Hwang did an amazing job creating the choreo, but I honestly cannot see anyone else perform this piece any better than SHINee themselves. It's just LEGENDARY.

You kept your promise ❤ Everybody Tokyo dome performance introduced and sucked me into Shinee World. Everybody doesn't have difficult steps or choreos but it's damn difficult to perform as it needs constant energy and power throughout.

If you remember, in "Everybody" SHINee are supposed to be toy soldiers and they get their energy and power from their fans. All their moves in the choreography should look artificial because they aren't human in this storyline, they are toys. In the MV the fans plug in the power, which sends the electricity to the grid on the floor where the members are laying and it activates the first member, Key, which then sets off a chain reaction that proceeds to activate the rest of the members. All the moves and everything you see is supposed to remind you of how a toy soldier would look and move. Their fans power them up and that's why in the beginning they wake up from the floor and in the end they run out of energy and they disengage and fall back down to the floor to wait for the fans to come and power them back up again. At one point you see Minho give the members an energy boost by pulling Key's pull string, winding Jonghyun's windup key, using a defibrillator to jumpstart Taemin and activating Onew by turning him on with a remote control. They do that gittery, hopping move because it's supposed to look like they are mechanical toys being reactivated. If you watch SHINee's MMTG ep. 183 (part 2 of ep. 181), you will hear them explain "Everybody's" whole storyline, why the choreography was designed the way it was and what makes this dance so difficult and iconic, etc. In the middle of the performance, where they come together and create that picture in their dance, they are supposed to look like an airplane, that's why Onew spins his arms round really fast like the propeller of a plane. The plane has to do with the fact that they are soldiers and they are depicting a scene from a battle during the Korean War. Yet again, SHINee are trendsetters, Dubstep was a new style of music and sound when "Everybody" came out in 2013, and they introduced the genera to the Kpop industry. And combining that with popping, locking and robotics as part of the choreography was also new. Tony Testa, who is a famous American choreographer that has worked with artists like Michael Jackson, choreographed "Everybody", as well as SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note)," "Dream Girl" and "Married to the Music." He has also worked with other SM groups and artists, such as TVXQ and Super Junior. SHINee's "Sherlock (Clue & Note) was his first Kpop project and it was one of the first times anyone in the Kpop industry used a big name international choreographer. One thing you should know about SHINee is, they have always been known for saving their energy for where it counts the most -- for live performances and for filming MVs -- dance practices for them are literally dance practices. They are less worried about being spot on exact, and more about showing everyone the feel of the choreography and the story behind the dance. (Fun fact: SHINee was the group that released Kpop's very first dance practice video for their song "Lucifer" in 2010, and they are the reason why Kpop groups create dance practice/performance videos today.) However, in their live performances you will see just how much of an expert they really are. Seeing as they are also singing live almost 100% of the time while performing for 3+ hours, you will notice moments where they conserves their energy, only to release it full out during the most intense parts of the dance or performance. If you think this dance practice looked impressive, just wait until you see a live performance. SHINee are known for their live stages and amazing vocals and dancing. There is nothing better than SHINee live. SHINee live are unmatched. They are known as CD-quality singers because they sound just as good live, if not better, than they do recorded. SHINee always sings live. The ONLY thing they are not good at is lip syncing so they avoid it at all costs, so when you hear SHINee singing 95% of the time it will be live. It's a running joke between the fans and the members that when SHINee lip syncs you can tell because it's very obvious. Yes, over the years they have become better at lip syncing then they used to be, but now they have gained the reputation as the group that always sings live, so unless they are required to lip sync for a specific reason, what you will hear is their live vocals. They have trained their entire career to be able to sing live and always sound flawless while performing extremely complex choreography. SHINee set the standard. That is why they are so highly respected among their peers. It is literally referred to as the SHINee standard. It's the standard all other groups strive to reach.

It is always so satisfying to watch SHINee's choreography. Each one of them "own it"! They have this unique ability to give every single movements all the right energy. They are "only" five, but are able to use the whole floor effortlessly, because even when jumping or spinning they move so fast from one point to another fluently while doing so. Even at concerts they give so much energy on stage from beginning to end!! Kings for sure!

This is one of my favorites choreo for different reasons, the intro(different ways of getting up and picking up Taemin), Minho activiting every toy/member, Taemin solo part, and the PROPELLER part. I love everything about it but those are my fav part's
@offthesidelines
@offthesidelines 11 ай бұрын
Yeah I think something that many dancers and longtime shawols have noticed is that by itself, the Everybody choreography isn't that difficult - at least not by Shinee standard. What actually makes it REALLY hard is how absolutely in sync you need to be with your team and how much energy and power you have to put into your performance to sell it and then on top of that you add the singing. It's an exhausting song to perform, something that Shinee and groups that have covered Everybody have all attested to. As a non-dancer I'd probably faint within 20 seconds of just ATTEMPTING this choreography. 😂

5:10 as explained by Minho in the second episode with SHINee on MMTG this sequence got a concept behind it. It's supposed to resemble humanization of robots tieing into the mv. He 'starts' or 'turns on' every member one by one in a different way. He pulls a string on Key like the ones you find on some dolls, he winds Jonghyun like a windup toy, he applies defibrillator on Taemin, and lastly Onew is turned on with a remote control. Btw Sherlock dance practice is also worth checking out!
@milindawilson9175
@milindawilson9175 11 ай бұрын
For Jonghyun, Minho winds his windup key like a windup toy. It's called "turning the key" on a windup toy. If you have ever had a windup toy, you know you turn the crank until it's wound up tight and then you watch the key unwind as the toy moves, until it unwinds all the way and stops, so you need to wind it back up to get it to move again. If you look at the photos that come with the album you will see Jonghyun with a windup key sticking out of his back in some of the photos. (It's the same thing with a clock you have to wind or a music box, etc. You wind it up so it runs and eventually it will stop running unless you keep winding it back up.) It's called a key because many windup devices that you don't have to wind right away are designed so the windup leaver is removable -- you use its "key" to wind it up and then you put the key away until it needs to be wound again.
@Lawol
@Lawol 11 ай бұрын
@@milindawilson9175 ah alright, I wasn't sure what that one was because the translation there called it a spring not a key and I didn't connect it to a toy for some reason. Plus the way he does it with both hands to me looks like some bigger thing like a valve than a toy key for which normally one hand would be enough :D but yh that type of toy makes sense, thanks for the clarification.
@milindawilson9175
@milindawilson9175 11 ай бұрын
@@Lawol Yeah they're all toy soldiers. If you look at the photos that come with the album you will see Jonghyun with a windup key sticking out of his back in some of the photos and its really big. Seeing as they are toys, Minho needs two hands in order to wind the key. :D If a child playing with them wound it, they probably would only use one hand because they would be like giants compared to Jonghyun. SHINee are supposed to be small like a child's toy in comparison to size.

Three Tokyo Dome live versions purely for your personal enjoyment, no review-this-please pressure😉! In chronological order... 2014 SHINee World white suits (all 5) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hsWGfcKX0c2phqM.html 2018 From Now On green suits kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pZ6Jaq2Hp6jKcZs.html 2018 Special Fan Event denim kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oMl-p5R2ptmoaX0.html Every time I rewatch Everybody, I can't help but gasp at Minho's vocal strength and stability, and how Everybody else belted out that high note beautifully (no pun intended I swear!). The last one is my favorite for multiple reasons: it was the night's opening song, the live vocals were through the roof, the staging and camera direction got even better than previous years, and there's an extra confidence and heroic determination energy around the guys. Have fun!
