I have the waxed black version. Mine came with the yellow stitching around the soles and a different sole design below the soles-Martens have two versions, the one you saw in the video and their commando soles, which aren't that slippery on wet ground like the classic one. The size is the same like in the 1460, and I didn't have much problems getting in them, though it needs some pressure in the first days. The crazy horse leather looks great, the waxed version is a little different, they look much alike when brand new, the waxed version is a little greasy and dull maybe, but probably the same leather. I found that when you use leather balm (you can buy any colorless leather balm for shoes, saddles etc.) on the waxed (i have derby waxed Martens too), they don't darken so much and they keep the used look in wrinkles, which appear a bit lighter colored than those areas which weren't bent or got scratches. The waxed leather is mid-soft i would say, not so painful to break in and just as the crazy horse leather more durable. The also available "smooth leather" has a plastic coating on them, which makes them shiny, but once you got breaks in them you can't really use leather balm on them, as the coating prevents it to soak in. Oh, and the waxed version never gets as shiny as the other leathers. I was wondering before buying if they keep tight enough without laces. They are a little roomy, just as the 1460s. But they stay on the foot and feel comfortable and tight (not overly tight). They are a good choice for those who don't like the hassle with the lacing of the 1460, as this takes time each time you put them on or off.

You can make them water resistant and they will be okay for winter. I do not recommend them during heavy rain or snow

I do not do much with my crazy horse leather dr martens. I mainly do not wear it during the rain and I do not apply anything on it. I just brush off dirt on it. To protect them from rain then apply the wander balm on it but they will get darker

@@sebastiento9695 the wonder balsam are good but I have heard of all the issues you mentioned with the crazy horse leather. I don’t like the dark look. I like the scratches on them.

When its about sizing. After owming 2 pairs for several years may resume is as follows: If you try them on and they fit well with a little bit of play, they are too big. Buy them one size smaller. Since they are made of leather from the outside as well as on the inside, they will get wider and fit to your foot perfectly. This is what makes them so comfy.

They are both doing great.. no issues with them.. you can’t go wrong with either of them but it depends what you want.. if you need them for manual labor jobs then Solovair is the one to get because of its shank.. also the shank keeps the boots sole shape.. dr martens fit like sneakers and they are very comfortable to walk in.. are you thinking about getting the 1460?

Measure your feet and compare it to the online dr market size chart.. that should give you a good idea of what size to get

Yes, their pricing is mad compared with 80/90s, they tripled their prices. But if you wait you always get discounts and can get them for around 100€/$. Though they had some quality problems, they seem to have solved those and the Martens i bought after 2020 have a really good quality again in most leathers, the "smooth leather" is by far the worst because of their plastic coating, which the other leathers luckily don't have.
