The movie was extremely cliché when it came to some of the human characters and scenario on how there ended up being bad blood between the survivors and the apes. I cannot say that I didn't enjoy it though.

The plot wasn't about fixing a dam, that was just a way to get the apes and humans to find out about each other. It worked well too, because it's just like in real life when a group needs something that belongs to or is in the territory, like america wanting oil from the other country and how it causes conflict, so it's brilliant. The plot was actually about and revolved around Koba, Caesar, and all the stuff that happened as a result, not the dam.

IDK, I felt like Koba was an evil character and a really bad guy. Had he not killed Ash, then maybe he would have been a gray character, someone with good intentions and motivations but simply misunderstood. But he killed Ash so that made his motivation clear that he is fighting for revenge, not for preservation.

@hittingyouoverthehead
@hittingyouoverthehead 3 жыл бұрын
@@dylancasey1702 Nope, even those can be justified. He was trying to manipulate the rest of the apes to believe his philosophy by doing that. Brutus in Julius Caesar genuinely believed killing his best friend Caesar was what Rome needed. It really pained him in his heart of hearts to kill his best friend but he was convinced by other senators that Caesar is turning into a tyrant and soon he'll start using Rome for his personal gain if they didn't kill him. The only reason that the conspirers were able to briefly convince the crowd that killing Caesar was a good idea was because they had Brutus on their side. I would have equated Koba to Brutus, had he not killed Ash- just a misunderstood ape with good intentions but the wrong methods and wrong understanding.

And why would they treat the horses the way we treat horses?! Is that just a plot hole? Or was it a deliberate hint that Ceasar and the rest of Ape society may be hypocritical about the plight of other (equally intelligent) animals. Are the sequels gonna get all Animal Farmy? Because I kinda love that idea, now that its in my head.
@Hollyberrystreats
@Hollyberrystreats 8 жыл бұрын
FireStormBaller I don't necessarily mean the same kind of intelligence as Ceasar. They didn't take his magical Alzheimer's drug, but then neither did all those apes he gathered on the way to the Golden Gate Bridge battle thingie from the first, nor the next generation of apes. I just find it kinda...odd that they would treat another animal as inferior if they remember being treated that way.

I genuinely only really learned who Andy Serkis was after seeing him as Klaue in Age of Ultron, in which he was good, but then in Black Panther he was even better. Seems like the man is just really talented all around :/

When Screen Junkies does Honest Trailers for good movies such as this, they respect and recognize the film if it's a good one and only pick the literal things wrong with the film. When Cinema Sins does "Everything Wrong with.." for this film, they're going to nitpick SO many little things to bitch and whine about and make dumb jokes instead of recognizing that this was an amazing movie. Honest Trailers made jokes, but they were relevant and in good spirits. That title at the end had me dying of laughter. Keep up the awesome work, HT! :D

Fun with ignored math! Number of non-human primates: maybe about 2 million Number of humans: 7.2 BILLION Number of smart primates in movie: couple hundred maybe? Possibly a thousand? I didn't see evolved gibbons so that removes about 300,000 of that population for primates. Seriously, we should have crushed them.

True, though there was also the virus that was killing a lot of humans. But yeah, launch a few missiles from a silo base, and your ape problem is gone.
@cbrownjc7633
@cbrownjc7633 9 жыл бұрын
You obviously didn't watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes. The Simian Flu virus that got unleashed at the end of Rise wiped out almost all the humans while simultaneously making all the apes on the planet super intelligent. There aren't 7.2 billion people left on the planet anymore - at most there are maybe 500 million. And that is a generous estimate.
@zamarokxl
@zamarokxl 9 жыл бұрын
The ape virus from the first movie infected the whole world killing most humans, as well as increasing the intelligence of the apes (it's not always as apparent as Caesar) and by the time they started blaming apes and killing them it was already too late. So next time actually watch the movies before you proceed to be a fuck wit.
@satsunada
@satsunada 9 жыл бұрын
HyperBreadbeard Or you could try math or common sense. There's a level of suspension of disbelief they fed you and that's fine. I'm just pointing out how unlikely this is. The virus presented to us is like bad strains of Ebola. It kills so quickly that it's hard to transmit. Even airborne, it kills people way too fast to be a threat. It has maybe a 2 day incubation period before presenting symptoms and is easy to notice. There's a damn good chance he was dead before that second flight, if not highly symptomatic. The countries would have sealed things off tightly so the losses might have been around 2,000-3,000 people. Again, I'm being very generous. Unless that virus was somehow able to survive outside hosts for long periods of time (which is unlikely given what we saw). Even then, by the time the last movie came out, humans had developed an immunity to it. The other apes have much slower reproductive rates than humans and shorter lifespans. Unless that virus magically made them immortal, we would outnumber them in absolutely ridiculous numbers. Even the movies said Indonesia didn't suffer much, know how many people are in indonesia? 10 times the population of all primates on Earth. That's just Indonesia. Seriously, I get suspension of disbelief but damn.
@cbrownjc7633
@cbrownjc7633 9 жыл бұрын
"First off, ever try to kill of a species with a virus? Civilized cultures would escape that easily." In the new Planet of the Apes universe, however, they didn't for a number or reasons. For one, once you contracted the Simian Flu virus you had about a week at most before you were dead. Secondly, no cure was ever found. The survivors in the movie? They were people who, for whatever reason, were immune to the virus. And the odds of being immune were very small - only 1 out of 10 people at most. And really? Humanity hasn't found a cure for the common cold, let alone things like Cancer or AIDS. Why assume they would have easily found a cure for the Simian Flu? Funny you mention Plauge, Inc., since they actually have a Dawn of the Planet of the Apes campaign tie-in for that game. Next, higher than 75% of the planet got wiped out - it was more like 95%+ Probably closer to 97% if I remember correctly from all the short-film tie-ins (some of which you can find on KZfaq) that came out right before the movie. Hence why, at most, there are maybe 500 million people left all over the world at most. And since Dawn of the Planet of the Apes takes place 10 years or so after Rise, (when the virus was first unleashed), who knows how long - or how fast - 2 million+ super intelligent Apes took to breed in that time. And the Apes weren't even the ones responsible for the virus. It was created by humans in a lab. So it was the humans own damn fault they nearly wiped themselves out.

Say: "I dreamed a dream in time gone by, When hope was high and life worth living. I dreamed that love would never die. I dreamed that God would be forgiving. Then I was young and unafraid, And dreams were made and used and wasted. There was no ransom to be paid, No song unsung, no wine untasted. But the tigers come at night, With their voices soft as thunder, As they tear your hope apart, As they turn your dream to shame. He slept a summer by my side. He filled my days with endless wonder. He took my childhood in his stride. But he was gone when autumn came. And still I dream he'll come to me, That we will live the years together. But there are dreams that cannot be, And there are storms we cannot weather. I had a dream my life would be So different from this hell I'm living, So different now from what it seemed. Now life has killed the dream I dreamed."

Do Big Hero 6! "From Disney and only barely Marvel, comes their first movie that will traumatize kids forever. Since 1996. (Shows Hunchback of Notre Dame). Big Hero 6! Join the adventures of an asian inspired teenage superhero team with some kid with black hair going to puberty, a hot love interest who talks funny, a fat black guy, a dark girl who hates everything, and the short comedic relief. All of which are fighting a man behind a mask. Huh, does that sound familiar? (Shows Teen Titans). But, to prevent DC Comics from suing us, we've also added a big white robot that will get girls to go crazy over him. Hey, it worked once! (Shows Olaf). Now yes, we know you are wondering why characters in an all-asian comic book would have only two be asian here? Well the answer is... um... And best of all, for all of those who hated Frozen just because, this movie features... NO SONGS!!!! Well, less songs. (Shows "Immortals" by Fall Out Boy). Big Hero 6! C'mon! We need you to help us beat Interstellar!"

Honest Trailer of the Honest Trailer: (Script) In a channel... That makes money off of discussing and criticizing the work of others using thousands of hours of movie-watching experience... Comes a trailer... With everything you love about... The narrator's voice. Witness a video... With a speaking pattern and presentation so cliche.., People have forgotten that it's actually a parody of 1980's movies... That they don't even criticize. Observe a review that asserts that the Planet Apes franchise is the most successful movie franchise to use talking animals since "Babe." ...and completely ignoring Lion King, Charlotte's Web, and every collective Disney movie made before 2005. LISTEN ...as an awesome voice lists things like... character personality problems over-used camera angles. and plot messages that are actually legitimate that he presents derisively. Slowly lose interest... As the narrator continues to make bad puns that some people find amusing but most people simply ignore or don't understand. LISTEN ONWARD As the narrator continues to list things that he finds wrong with the movie even though they often represent occurrences in real life. WATCH A shit-ton of movie clips with long periods of no commentary that should probably infringe on trademarks but don't because directors believe these videos encourage people to watch their movies. LISTEN MORE As character archetypes are enumerated to the audience that has already perceived them as such but find it much cooler to hear it from the narrator because his voice is second only to Morgan Freeman. Hell, let's go back to the fact that they just transition back to the movie to make the video last 3:30 as any video shorter doesn't quite qualify as commentary. SNORE As the narrator subtly presents side-points that contradict his original point but serve to provide more criticism to himself and others and make people view him as wise. BE TAKEN A-BACK By the narrator's quick transition from well-thought criticism to the commentary of movie hecklers because some people consider it funny because it reminds us he's a human being... Humor is dead. REALIZE That just after 1:50 the trailer is already drawing to a close... AND HALF OF IT HAS BEEN F*CKING MOVIE CLIPS. Ephiphanize That that may not be a word and re-read the phrase "that that" to see if it makes sense... you feel dumb... ha ha... this is off-track like the trailer. REALIZE That they just re-used an outstanding verb that they used earlier in the trailer to grab back people's attention from the side comment recently made by the narrator. Conclude ...the trailer with more listing to fill up air time. TIRE ...of absurdly long movie clips and lists that take the movie from 1:53 to 2:26 in 18 words. STARRING Deep Voices Long Pauses Lists Things that aren't even actors but are commonly featured throughout the performance... which they didn't do with this movie... odd. ...and observe as they make an absurdly long title even longer and more absurd for the sake of killing time. 3:30 is an important milestone! BE SURE TO LIKE FOR MORE CYNICAL COMMENTS ...and the abuse of my deep voice to make stupid phrases somewhat humorous. Monkey Dicks Squarely Circle BEEEEEEWWWBBBSSS The absurdly long comment for which he rapidly increases pace and tone to read ...not that they ever gave a shit about how long things took in the trailer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Before any of you hate on me, I just want to say that I love the work and am subscribed to their channel. I don't hate it. I just binge-viewed Cinemasins is all. (If you didn't already, read the comment with the narrator's voice and with a somewhat quick tempo. Then you'll understand what this comment was all about.)

You didn't say anything about how once the dam works, the guy's iPad instantly comes on to look at pictures of his dead family when the battery has been dead for ages. Even Caesar's video camera is still working! That the human shelter is apparently a few miles hike from an occupied military base full of soldiers and the survivors haven't sought help there before wanting to trek into the forest for a power source. That there are working security cameras set up in the sewers below the town when there wasn't any power for years. Yeah the ape stuff is great, but the tech logic was awful.
@JerkyMurky
@JerkyMurky 9 жыл бұрын
Its the survivors that occupy the armory. They literally say they are going there to get guns after the apes first show up to tell them to stay away from their land. Its not occupied by military personnel. Hell, during the scene when Koba first goes there and leaves without killing the two guys you see Gary Oldman... All that other stuff you said though i agree with, it was bullshit.
@InkHeart17
@InkHeart17 9 жыл бұрын
Jerky .Murky I'm confused then. Didn't the "good" humans tell Caesar once Koba attacked that a distress call went out and more troops would come and kill all the apes for a sense of urgency of Caesar to overthrow Koba and evacuate his apes from the human base?
@442hoeky
@442hoeky 9 жыл бұрын
InkHeart17 Yes, but no one said it was a few miles hike. Why does an ipad have to have a dead battery when they have running cars? Why can't a video camera work after sitting, untouched, inside a house, for years? These things you mentions might be argued, but they're pretty minor. I'd be more interested in how they got the power from the dam to the town to work so well with one try and no transformer blowing or breakers tripping etc. Then I remember it's a sci-fi movie and some questions are just better left unasked!

I always wondered how the batteries on those devices could still hold charges after nearly a decade ( or how the building wiring and transmission lines are still working).But in they actually were still functional, then the scene(Dreyus with the tablet and Caesar with the camcorder) makes sense as the both devices are already plugged in and being charged.

I'm still wondering how you are personally able to differentiate between someone who is truly a racist and hates black people, and some troll who's just trying to be intentionally incendiary to get a response. Or maybe you don't see a difference between the two. I hope that's not the case. But I'd love to know how you conclude that there's "racial hatred" and not just an asshole trying to troll with a provocative comment.

I haven't seen this movie so when I saw the part with the monkey with machine guns on a horse I busted out laughing XD I'm sure it's built up better and more serious in the movie but just randomly seeing it is funny.
