This film has, and should never anything to do with Brexit! Not all films should have to be political, especially one set 3000 years in the future. A future where they wouldn't give a damn about the outcome. Also this film was made in New Zealand, away from the Brexit debacle. They also may not want to predict the outcome. Besides, Brexit is the best thing that has happened to England since winning WWII! (Pro-Brexiter)

I've never read the book, but even so I could tell where huge chunks of plot and character development were probably meant to be, but just weren't in the film. The romance of the two main characters feels like it should have been just friendship with their lack of chemistry and I didn't feel an attachment to any of the fliers or the city that was getting blown up. It was clear that lots of important stuff got cut out, despite the movie's runtime.

why mobile cities? after the 60 minutes war there where plenty of vulcanos, earthquakes and terra shifting which put the stationary cities in risk and danger. these events hold up until a guy (querks?) 'tracktionized' the first citiy (london) and therfore the cities where mobile and could avoid the events. while on the go, they need ressources and after plenty of decades the earth starts to settle, but the cities didnt. they keept the style of moving cities, because there where now plenty and non-tracktion cities where at risk. its became a live style. thats the part from the books, which didnt translate well enough in the film, so the whole concept looks dumb.

Which is why the movie didn't make any sense in any way. They pulled it off the best they could but with so many inconsistencies it was bound to be a clusterfuck. Honest True Story. I didn't read the books. I watched the movie an hour ago on DVD. I liked the movie. I roughly figured out it must have been something like that. I think it's because no other explanation makes sense and I readily embrace that everything has a reason before I know what the reason is. I now want to read the books. It's a little silly it went so Star Wars at the end. I don't mind "I am your father" BUT do you have to say it during an actual climactic battle and as good as say "search your feelings you know it to be true"? What I wanted more of was Robot Zombie Monsters. Im sure the books have plenty right?

This is something that should’ve been a tv series, and who knows maybe it will be one day. I just finished the first book and while it wasn’t extraordinary, it kept me guessing enough to be engaging, and I think I’ll appreciate the characters better going forward, the first book was a little short to make me care about so many characters and their relationships. Especially the main ones.

The reason that cities move in the books is because of the sheer amount of radiation saturating the ground everywhere. Growing food was basically impossible on the earth save for a few rare locations. Trees were practically non existent in and most wildlife died off over time. Unlike the movie version where there is no reason for cities to move whatsoever other than to put on a spectacle.

Fun thing was the book series was fantastic. The narration at the beginning is a bit of an easter egg. After the series finished he went into hibernation. When he woke up the world had changed again and everyone thought he was mad when he said cities used to move. He became a story teller and the last thing in the series is him starting the first book, word for word. This movie was pulled less than two weeks after release where I live so I didn't get to see it. I'm sort of glad to be honest.
