Yes Solstice is beautiful! It is an insatiable idea provoker as well as an impeccably curated selection of instruments which create a water tight sound world. The curation alone of that library was a work of art- It finds a way into many pieces with those damn evocative timbres. The “gut” plucked strings- you can smell the rust on the strings, and the bells have strong presence while also having a ghostly sub-timbre. And the choir- the “infinite Mmmm” humming is so useful. It sounds like a very real recording of a live choir humming and can be placed as a mirror track behind chamber strings and make it into epic strings while almost entirely melting into the background but giving the chord depth deep as a well. I’m thinking of Colossus because it’s only $161 right now (not including the SSD drive I’ll need to hold it!) LPT for synthestrators: Don’t even TRY to get a large Albion or a pro level spitfire library to run off a hard disk drive. It will lag, dropout and crash the DAW to the point of being absolutely useless. I found this out putting BBCSO pro on an external HDD - didn’t record a single note until I copied it to a SSD

Thank you for providing this overview. Would love to see you use this library for a composition inside of REASON, combined with some of the synths you like in there.

Some Kontakt libraries sound a little cheap in comparison to Spitfire and the UI looks like something you would see in the 90s. Spitfire has a much more modern feeling and I feel like I’m getting my money’s worth. But at the end of the day it more has to do with what the artist can get out of the library than the library itself.

I'm a little confused - why are you mentioning a paywall regarding Kontakt in regards to the previous Albions, when they worked/work on the Player version (which is free, but limited), and didn't require the Full version? Makes sense to say for libraries which aren't licensed, and Spitfire does have some stuff which requires the Full version, but the Albions ran/run on Player just fine?

My download isn’t even finished yet and I already regret buying this…
