The honey blue-eye is an endangered species of fish in the subfamily Pseudomugilinae. It is endemic to southeastern Queensland, Australia, where it is found in mildly acidic, often tannin-stained, ponds and streams in wallum habitat, it's habitat is being lost to population increase and plantation timber farming, there are still a few little pockets of them around, in those pockets they still thrive in good numbers, I haven't put the exact location as they are also sort after by hobbyists, so if you do like them try to get them through people in clubs that may have breeding stock off them to share such as ANGFA.

この種が日本に入って来ない事を凄く残念に思っていましたが、最近この種が地球上に存在している事だけで満足出来るようになりました。 どうかこの先も自然界で繫栄できる事を祈ってます。

One of my dream fish. Australian fish are very underrated and it’s a shame such superb specimens aren’t well represented in the aquarium hobby. Great stuff!

Yes they never stop, it was pretty hard to film them as the water was so tannin and they got right into the edges of the bank, but I was lucky to find this little pocket.

Now that they are more marketable they will become more common in the hobby, so keep an eye out for them.

Nothing compares to a natural environment. It's wonderful. How you take the video? I'm wondering if I can do something similar here in Argentina.

Anybody can do it my friend, I don't have any special tools, I have used a Gopro 7 black for most off my previous videos, a couple of the older ones I used an Osmo Action as well but I didn't like the footage underwater from it, it wasn't as good, I now have a Gopro 10 and I have tried it once and I think it is much better and it would be the one I would suggest if you are just starting, I waisted a bit of money trialing, the one camera is all you really need, I hardly take my other cameras out now as the new Gopro is so versatile, the best time to film is in the middle of the day when the sun it above you so there is no shadows or glare on the screen and I still use an underwater case to protect the camera from getting damaged even though you don't need to, I never feed the fish, I just place the camera in a position where I see them swimming and most times they do come to the camera to check it out, if you feed them it looks un-natural, and then just a bit of practice, I'm sure you will be happy to see the results of your natural habitat 🙂

@australianbiotopes4563 5 ай бұрын
You are correct, it is a creek but these fish tended to hang around the shallows on the edges rather then in the deeper water were the water was flowing and the creek also flows from a large swamp.

We aren't aloud to sell them here in Queensland as they are a protected species, we can keep them and give them away if we breed them, they can keep them in other states though.

@@themountain59 It is against the law for us to do that, as I said we can't even sell them here, so there is no way we could send them overseas.

What are the water values
@australianbiotopes4563
@australianbiotopes4563 Жыл бұрын
They can live in a wide range of water values and the water fluctuates a lot in their distribution depending on the season the PH can be between (4.4 to 6.8), water hardness of 10 mg/L CaCO3, pH 5.8, and conductivity 170 µS/cm at this spot, They can tolerate wide fluctuations in stream temperature, from 11°C in winter to 38°C in summer. I keep them in a Ph of 7.0 and they do fine with that to.
