We join HoneyLuv at W1 Studios in London for the latest in our Beat From Scratch series, as she talks us through the creative approaches she uses to produce her trademark hypnotic and groovy house.
Off the back of a number of solo releases, as well as collaborations with artists including Jamie Jones, Roland Clark and Seth Troxler, HoneyLuv has quickly cemented herself as one of the leaders in the next generation of house music producers.
In this episode HoneyLuv shares her top tips for using Ableton, her favourite native plug-ins and sample packs, alongside outlining her approach for on-the-road production with minimal hardware.
Beat from Scratch is a unique insight into an artist's creative process in the studio. Starting from a blank session, each artist builds a track from scratch in their own style, exploring everything from drum and synth programming to mixing, arrangement and more.

I mean as a beginner this video has a few tips, basically just add some warm to everything. Also the title is a bit misleading, it should be called a loop from scratch. This isnt a track

I always had this preconception that professional musicians 'have a sound in their head' that they want to create. But actually, most music is just from sitting there and seeing what happens. Which is totally how I make stuff. 😅

This is making me want to signup for Roland Cloud (where you'll be able to get access to the VST versions of ALL Roland's legendary keyboards like the Juno she is using in the video). But then I realised how poor I am and decided I can't signup.

Hi, can anyone can tell me the tip she explains, at the beggining, with the kick ? I didn't know this "shorcut" to loop the kick. I don't see how to do that... Thank's in advice if anyone can help me !

I don't use ableton but lookup how to drag and duplicate, or something like that. Normally involves holding CTRL/CMD and dragging.

heyyy fellow ableton user here! Make sure ur kick sample is exactly one bar in length (if not cut it). Click on it and on the bottom left in arrangement view where it says the info about the sample like the name, length, and start and end times, you should see a button that says loop. turns orange when you click it and then you can just drag the end of the kick to ur desired length for the loop. hope this helps, happy producing!!

its interesting how so many of u.s producers seem to finance their artistry by aiding the forever wars and military industrial complex then go and become artists with full fledged studios etc.

@@THOMASTAYIMOEHL man, its simply overwhelming amount. you would think its an exaggeration but find a producer youtube channel with a lot of hardware and the chance is pretty big, but obvioulsy you have to follow or check their pictures on other accounts and sooner or later its all financed by the military so to speak. specially within urban type of music, sad situation really

It's good but seems to me she's just using loops for bass and chords.
@prestigious5s23
@prestigious5s23 Ай бұрын
That's the old way of doing things and tbh, still an excellent way to make music. Its cool what you can do with sampled bass and chords. Chop them up, layer them, switch them around, apply FX, etc. You can get so creative using samples. Its no different to sampling drums or guitars. Don't listen to anyone who tells you its cheating because some of the best music ever created was done using sampled loops. I have many official remix packs from popular 90s dance tracks and these always came with bass and chord loops to get hands on with.
