Two important statements: The only thing he mentioned about falling in love with her was that she was pretty. “It’s hard to be passionate with someone you’re fighting with.” Pay attention to that, ladies. That goes for all men! If you want his passion, give him peace.

Lots of comments saying Tamarra is essentially a bad person but all I see is someone that has an unhealthy need to depend on someone else. She reminds me of my brother's dog that cried when my brother wasn't home, spent it's whole day waiting for my brother to come home, and got jealous when my brother was spending time with someone else. It's not that she's a bad person. She's just been living a very sheltered life and that has stunted her personal growth.

The first woman isn't clingy, she's controlling. If she were a man we'd probably call her abusive. She seems to have no job, no friends, and to do nothing except watch tv (maybe she cooks and cleans) and wait for hubby to come home. I'd be a lonely basket case too. But it's time for her to get a life, almost literally. Trying to give her grace, that maybe she's had some trauma that makes her live so abnormally, but she's got to come to terms with it whether they stay married or not

I just want to take a moment and put my husband on a pedastool here. We have been together for 14 years. Just had our 14th anniversary on July 4. While our state doesn't acknowledge common law. We do. This means he and I have been married 4 years. We recently hit a huge bump in the road this year. I had a second round of clots in my aorta and common illiac arteries. This caused me to lose the ability to walk. It was extremely painful. Like a bad cramp you can't work out. They were reable to restore blood flow to my legs and I woke up in the ICU. You would think the horror ends there right? Nope we just getting started Hon. A few weeks into recovery I had 2 cardiac events and while the doctor was looking at the latest event my right leg went ice cold out of nowhere. I already had sever reduced sensation in my legs but that icy cold feeling will forever haunt me. I knew exactly what happened and I slowly started to freak out. One CT scan later revealed the horror I already knew was there. A clot, this time in my femoral artery. They tried for 12 hours to restore blood flow and they failed. They presented me with 2 options. 1) I could do nothing and my leg would rot off and I could die from sepsis. Or 2) they take the leg and I live relearning all the basic functions. I chose the second one. I've been in and out of hospitals for about 6 months. I'm finally home and hopefully for good this time. My husband has been my rock through this whole thing. He is the best caregiver a woman could ask for. I am bed bound at the moment but I will walk again if I have anything to say about it. But my husband and I have grown VERY close through this. There isn't much else we could know.

She's asking how do they find a compromise where he spends time with her and has everything he wants to? The thing is is she spending time with him? She wants him to stay home and watch movies and be a homebody and he does that for her but does she offer to go horseback riding with him does she go on a hike with him? Sometimes marriage means doing things you don't necessarily want to do or aren't interested in but you do them to be there with your spouse because that's the thing they like to do or are interested in. Then a lot of the time people find that they end up looking forward to that thing because it means quality time with their spouse and they have a good time. As she's going now she's just going to end up getting fat and lazy. Then he'll really be resentful.

I’m of the opinion you do what you can before you divorce. Marriage should ideally be the one time, of course if it can’t work and they just make each other unhappy, divorce is an option, but I understand they want to try therapy and help first. Bless them both. They probably married too fast and too young. Not everyone is ready for marriage this young.

I think the woman in the first couple should become a flight attendant and broaden her horizons. She should not demand things from her husband, she needs to be way less available and not wait for him to get home.

When I had problems in my marriage I told my family Dr. who was my Dr. since my youth. He said this and I remembered it all 60 yrs of my marriage. Bottom line..learn to cope or get out!! My hubby was bipolar and did get on meds, when the good ones became available. That was a life and marriage saver!

I was like this when I was younger. I was very insecure. No one person can meet your needs. Years later my husband (we met in our 40s, both our second marriage) and we both have many different hobbies and we both have friends we spend time with apart. We also spend alone time apart. We did not consider marrying until we had been together for years and knew we were compatible. This is easy to do when you are secure with yourself and with your relationship. She needs to practice being comfortable spending time alone or with family/friends away from hubby. She can work this out. ❤❤❤

I feel so sorry for the guy not allowed to do anything. His wife is ruining his life and he will grow to hate her in the future. All she cares about is herself. She is sitting there laughing at everything which tells that she just doesn't get it and she will never get it. What he want has no relevance, it's all about her. She need to get friends and some hobbies so he get some time to do things he likes to. She is suffocating him.

Together 20 tears and married 18. We have known each other for 30. We encourage each other to have time apart with friends. We accept we don’t agree on all activities. He likes to camp. Me? Nope. So I get a hotel near campsite to visit but usually go back home after a couple of days. I like shopping and museums when we travel. He puts in a bit of effort then finds a pub. He adores the beach, but I don’t. So we mutually love deep sea fishing and do that. We find happy mediums that work for us. It’s called compromise. We discussed it BEFORE we wed. Are there disagreements? Absolutely! Then we agree to disagree and motor on if it is something not life changing. We can vacation together and spend time apart without upsetting the other. We also agree wholeheartedly to not go to bed disgruntled. Works fir us. We are a couple with a complete life both with one another and solo. Makes and keeps us happy and not missing out.

I think they are both immature . Every one focused on her but she intuitively knew on the honeymoon he had regrets , felt him pull back and that can make someone clingy and extra insecure. She said he gave her lots of attention before the marriage and everything changed after that . He needs a woman that rides horses and has a black belt. She needs an academic book reader that hikes. Good luck to them both.

The first young couple, the young man is speaking of severe alienation of friends, the things he loves, no privacy & telltale signs of a controlling partner, at the minimum. If this was a woman, Dr. Phil would be yelling how he's a good ol' Texas boy & how the newlywed husband belongs gone or in jail. Why the role reversal, why not warn this young man he's going down a dangerous DV road? Exactly, why I stopped watching!

Before I got married, I attended a lesson where I learned that 1. It's hard to know while you're dating what questions to ask and what to look for. It's like being a tourist in a town vs. being a homeowner. You see things differently once there's commitment. 2. The first year should be spent together, building the foundation for the marriage. Not to the extreme that Lady A wants, perhaps, but definitely making the effort to spend most of their free time together to begin with. In the case of the first couple, they apparently just went with the fantasy version of romance without asking any of the right questions and with building no healthy balance or boundaries, so now she doesn't know how to ask for affection, and he just wants to get away. No communication. Very sad.

They do not have to have things in common. They need to support and care about who the other person is. My husband is a country boy and I am a city girl. He loves seeing me thrive and I love seeing him do the things he loves to do. The wife needs to have a different perspective. The husband will love her more if she allows him to thrive with who he is and what he enjoys.

8 years married here! You need to know everything that is important and a deal breaker to you. You always will learn new things. Now, I learned that picking up the underwear on of the floor, is not important and it is more important to focus on other things. Also, communication:) and learn each other love languages, to make them feel loved and important. Finally, give yourself your own space! Tamara, you will saturate him.

My husband and I fight about good things. "You made me dinner last night, it's my turn to make it for you !", "Is there anything I can get you?" If I want the toilet seat down, I put it down. I suggest he hang with friends and go golfing when he wants. If we have angry words, we apologize quickly and are happy again soon. It's about selflessness.

Do NOT indoctrinate your children. Teach them love and compassion. I was raised in the church as well. I allowed my child to make her own choice. She went to many different churches with neighbors and friends growing up. I sent her to “Jesus camp” in MS, because she was interested. She was able to make her own choice. She later came to me crying and said, “I know you no longer believe, but thank you for showing me the groundwork to being a loving and caring Christian that I’ve decided to be. You’ve showed me through your kindness to the homeless, your volunteering that I want to be like you, I just am going to do it through Christ”. I cried as well.
