Thanks a lot for yet another thorough and well-produced review! Very beautiful pen: full of details, yet not overly so. The ink you selected for it is very beautiful too. Very seemly selection of the background music in the dimension display segment. Might I suggest that you add the grip section diameter in that section? It would help imagine how the pen would feel in the hand. Thanks again, and have a great day!

I just received mine. Surprisingly this pen is very comfortable in the hand uncapped. The ornamentation that adorns this pen is impressive and not over the top. The instruction booklet provides a decent description of all the symbols on the cap and barrel. I am quite impressed. Even the nib is gorgeous. Speaking of the nib, my only comment would be that I wish it had a soft nib which I know can be made; look at the D1 model.

I am not sure why, but my nib is really soft, to the point that I thought they had mistakenly included the gold version of the nib.

Gracias por el vídeo. Cada vez está sacando al mercado excelente estilográficas y plumines muy suaves, que no rascan con en otras estilográficas mucho más caras. De esta, por ahora, tengo dos. Rojo y plata y negro y dorado.

After seeing this pen, I can’t decide between this pen and the N7 lol. This pen looks exquisite indeed. I live in the Asian region so delivery in not a problem. The last pens I bought from China got to me in less than a week by standard delivery 😊

I would go with the D5. You also now have a choice of colour.

I wasn't going to get one. I kept looking at reviews, and liking the pen but I still held out, until I found out that they've just released a BLUE one! Blue and gold, and even a purple edition. 💜 I can see the spring in that nib. Almost flexing. I'm impressed. I hope my pen comes with a nib like that.

Greetings from Australia. I've come back to your video again. Well done. I'm at the point where I am about to purchase this pen, and I will be going for a green pen too. I have about 8 Hong dian pens, but I have found that I prefer the pens with the option of a Long Knife Nib. Long Knife nibs are brilliant as they are a form or architect's nib. They are available in N1s, N6, N7, N8 and the silver centennial pen. (One hundred years of the CCP.) There is a red and gold version of the latter with a gold nib but they retail for about 400 Aud. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Long Knife nib. Great video.

The long knife or long blade nibs are essentially architect nibs and personally I just can't get used to writing cursive with these nibs. I am an italic stub writer which is the opposite line variation form architect type nibs. The architect nibs are best when writing block letters. But this is just a personal quirk and it should not stop you from trying them. Good luck.

I absolutely loved this pen the first time that I saw it. I almost didn't buy it because I don't like fine nibs. I found out that esybuy on Etsy and eBay is something to do with Asvine/Hongdian so I contacted them about a medium. They got back to me right away. I did wait until I got the pen before ordering another nib. The fine wrote like a medium so I was happy. I didn't need another nib. I looked at the esybuy listing again. Their nib sizes are XF 0.6mm, F 0.7mm and M 0.8mm. These nibs units fit other Hongdian pens so it is probably something to keep in mind when picking a nib size. I absolutely love this nib and the artwork. This is my first Hongdian and won't be my last.

I saw the additional choices in nibs but I am not sure they come with the same detailed engraving as those that originally came with the nib. My fine nib is so wet and springy that I seriously questioned if they sent me the Gold nib by mistake. Does your fine have a definite spring to it? Let me know.

I use the Ink swatch books from Tomoe River goodInkpressions available on Etsy. I noticed that lately its not on the site and may be out of stock. I also recently purchased Wearingeul ink journal and cards available on Endless pens.

Hi Vincent! Thanks for your nice review, but I think with the nib you are among the lucky few. As you can see, the major American reviewers of Chinese fountain pens have had problems with the nib as have I myself. Inadmissible on such a high-end and not at all cheap model: in my experience and in my assessments the overall cost with shipping should not exceed 45 dollars, and the best market is always that of AliExpress. Furthermore, it is not a traditional F nib in oriental production: it is closer to an Extra Fine. The use of Taccia ink is notable, a very refined choice.

As I stated in another one of my comments. I seriously question whether or not I received a gold nib by error. The engraving is the one on steel nibs but the nib is so springy that I wanted to do a special short video to show what I mean. Maybe I will do it and see what the viewers say.

@@fountainpentherapy I really don't think that a professional manufacturer like Hong Dian, a historic company, could make such a mistake by exchanging a gold nib for a steel one. The greater elasticity in the nib has already been introduced by Hong Dian in the D1 model, moreover on an Extra Fine. In the D5 there is a problem with the rhodium plating of the nib, for some models I hope.
