Honing a Grinding Wheel

I use a diamond grinding disk to hone this hand grinding wheel. This sharpening wheel I use for my carving gouges and it runs off centre, after honing it runs as good as I think it will ever get.

I believe you, but sometimes fold experiments. :-) So I wanted to try it in my to get my whetstone back around.

I have one exactly like that, I suspect the hole in your wheel is larger than the shaft it's mounted on. I might have started by loosening the wheel and trying to center it first. But the problem is fixed either way, good job.

i bet your right, its just i didn't want to start taking it apart to try and fix the problem and end up with no wheel at all, thanks for watching.

Hi How would you go about doing this without an Angle Grinder? I have an old hand crank sharpening wheel I am restoring it, but the stone is in bad shape and suggestions?

+Daniel Richardson I'm not sure, you need something harder than the abrasive stone to reshape it. Maybe a wheel dresser for redressing wheels might do it.

I have an old house in France that I'm slowly renovating, I live and work in the UK but love the old tools and stuff from brocantes

+Francis Barnett yeah, I understand. I lived in Spain, not on the coast, for 17 years and i used to come across all kinds of hand tools. Also in The Netherlands, where I spent about 6 months. A job can be done in many ways 😀
