Hooded Baby Towels

This is an easy sewing project that can be made in less than two hours. It is a nice gift for a newborn, or for a baby shower and it is made with love. You can customize the towel to match the theme of the babies room, or just use fun fabrics to create this towel. Once you see how easy it is, you will be making several of them to give away.
You can use Terry Cloth by the yard, or find a nice bath towel and cut it up to make this Hooded Baby Towel.

Also, wouldn't it be nice to put the cotton fabric throughout the towel? Would that work? Or would it be too thick to sew terry, cotton, and binding throughout the entire piece?

Again, thank you for that question. The hood, towel, and binding, especially around the hood has several pieces of fabric. Yes, it may be thicker (around the hood) if you add the extra fabric on the back. I’m not sure if adding the fabric on back would make the towel stay smooth after washing it, unless you do some quilting on it to make sure it does not shift around.

This is for a baby, and I'm going to make it, but I need to make one for a 2-year-old, too. How much fabric do I need for the bigger hooded towel?

where is the towel part? All I saw you sew was the terrycloth, hood and binding

Thank you for your question! The terrycloth is the towel. You can use a regular towel to make this, but if you go to the fabric store you would ask for terrycloth. I hope you make a few.

Quick question, the two inch strips, did you fold the fabric in half before you cut, to make long pieces? I'm just making these today, so want to get it right, thanks 😊

When I make the binding, I cut the 2” strips straight, first. Then I attach the pieces together to make one long strip. After that, I fold and press the long piece. Good luck, I know you will do a great job!

@jaddascraftcottage6335 thank you for that, I managed to cut the strips ok, but then managed to get the second mitred corner wrong when sewing, think I put the fabric the wrong way, so need to unpick and start that bit again, but am starting a fresh to give me a break from unpicking
