I remember being at my grandma and grandpa's house on Sunday's, watching Polka Varieties. Talk about nostalgia!

Cleveland seems to have a deep sense of nostalgia and reverence about its local culture and entertainment compared with other major cities I've lived in. Not sure why that is. It may be due to the various ethnic neighborhoods and people's sense of heritage.

@swimmerB0B trouble is, those shows will linger in our memories, even as we watch the sludge on post 2000-TV.

I just laughed so hard at this! Thank you so much for putting it up. :D Incidentally, they needed more old ladies dancing with each other. That's what I remember most about Polka Varieties.

The kid is Carl Ruskin, someone I knew from high school. He was a trumpet player in the band at Cleveland Saint Joseph high school.

Wonder if he ever shows this to his family, or would it be a childhood embarrassment? It's still fun to watch. Been too long gone from Ohio.

I don't know about what he did after graduation. He liked music enough that he was in the high school band for four years.

@groundhog713 Hope your grandmother is well, whether she's in Cleveland, Florida, or gone to a worthy rest. Bet you a box of fresh Krispy Kremes you still dance to this. (still the Panda, name changed due to a screwup)

Here's a weird little fact: North Korean music teachers are absolutely positively required to learn the accordion! And not just "Lady Of Spain" but a proper mastery of the instrument! There's a meaning in this, can any good Clevelander enlighten me?
