i also love how much easier tough boulders get the more often you do them! remembering how difficult a climb was at first when you're able to do it rather easily feels so good.

Agreed! That is a wonderful feeling :) I did that recently with a project of mine. Came back the next week and sent it on my first attempt that day :)

I'm actually repeating easier climbs as part of a reloading of recovery for a mild tendon injury. I've gotten better at getting into more reachy positions without going super dynamically.

I always try to send everything at least twice, mainly so I know it wasn’t just a fluke, but it’s interesting that the second time is usually either way easier or way harder.

I don't think there are flukes in climbing. More like stronger and weaker days, which can make a huge difference.

I usually climb with a friend that is way shorter and more scare to do dynamics so I usually try to repeat boulders finding a different beta that may work for her and I think it's very instructive for me!

Love doing this with boulders with a difficult crux. Dialing in a low percentage move is such a good way to work on microbeta.

I think sometimes just doing movements on difficult climbs help build skill confidence, too without sending. Other climbs that were hard, but fun have done as often as 10 times-with each go being more efficient and less time.

That's what I do. I'm very low level still, but I climb the same climbs a couple of times in the same session, and if it's still there in subsequent sessions, I warm up on them, and try to watch my footwork, hand holds and skipping holds.

At my school we have a top rope wall but only a few routes meaning I repeat all the climbs over and over again it really helps with strength and means I can do quite a few in very short amounts of time

It’s not enough to send something once. You must master it and learn everything you can from that boulder so that you can utilize those skills for the next.

They were discussing interval training in Magnus’ video, but then Magnus asked Adam if he thought it was good to repeat climbs without the quick 1 minute rests (interval training style) and this was his response. So Adam said interval training is good but also just repeating boulders in general as we discuss here.
