I've had my Hori about two months now and use it solely for Tekken 7. One thing I do NOT like is the fact that the grips are totally smooth. I don't have sweaty hands in general but it really starts to feel slippery after a little while which sucks because, like you said, the D Pad already feels slippery. Same big hands issues. Overall...it's aite. 🤷‍♂

This is a good point to make, how things like grease/oil start to affect feel over time.

A little late to the party but, wanted to throw my 2 cents in. The octa is a fantastic fightpad. I personally bought it because I wanted clicky face buttons and a smooth gliding type dpad. Its all preference, but the sound I get from hitting precise combos does something for my brain lol

I might get it from my PS4. I use akuma and Ryu and Ken and Sagat on street fighter games. Hopefully it’s a good choice.

I have kind of skinny medium sized hands for a guy and the Octa dpad for me feels amazing. Similar to the saturn/genesis 6 button pad but tighter and for me this is perfect. Mostly playing beat em ups with a little third strike on the side though so perhaps for fighting game enthusiasts your mileage may vary.

My question is, how long have you used the Octa? I bought the Xbox One version of it, the right bumper button has broken (which is a problem for a lot of people on that version) and the d-pad chipped but was fixable with super glue. I've had it for about a year so I guess that's good but I expected it to last a little longer. I still use it no problem but I'd buy the PS version of the durability issues were fixed. As for the Razer controller, I know you gotta fix it yourself or buy the new version, which sucks for anyone who bought it early.

I've had it for about a month now, but I've never been super intense on my controllers. I haven't seen any noticable degredation, but seeing as the shoulder buttons and triggers on the Octa are membrane contacts, I can see them needing to be replaced 🤔

@@B.CREAT1 Not surprised man. My Octa lasted maybe half a year before it started falling apart. I then bought a Razer Raion probably 7-8 months ago from Amazon when they had them for $35 refurbished, and left on the d-pad is now not working. I think I'm done with controllers for now, lol. Too much hassle when I could've just bought a hitbox with the money I spent.

@@bac733 btw best fighting game controller i own and still use is the Xbox Wolverine v2 ( all versions are good ) Great quality. Super good mechanical buttons. Amazing d-pad. And it's also good for other sorts of games wich the octa and raion dont offer. The Wolverine v2 is also rated as one of the best controllers overall. Check it out!

here in Asia the latest models or issue of Raion is fixed. model numbers 2050. released between 2021 & 2023 no mods needed got mine last week for $40😅

If people want the Raion without having to mod it, I've been doing some research and I'm very sure the S/Ns that start with PM2052 come with the pivot. I've been trying to narrow down what the earliest set that has them are. 2038 doesn't, I don't know about 2039 though. I think I've seen some 204xs but I haven't seen anything about them either. I'd love a V2 that perfects the Raion, it seems close to the perfect fightpad for me tbh. Edit: Also I'm pretty sure the box has the S/Ns on the bottom so you can check that out if you can't look at the back.

@@leeraym I haven't bought one from there yet, so I don't know. Some people say they've had better luck with the refurbished/renewed ones, but I don't think Amazon has them anymore. You could try to ask for pictures of the back of the controller or the bottom of the box.

The mod that's sold on etsy is perfect. I installed it yesterday. I didn't have a single input drop.

Easy pewgf mapping is that only possible on the hori octa using software?

Not *only*, but it makes the remapping easier; all it is is basically directional inputs on the shoulders haha

I’ll have to double check, but I’m pretty sure it’s console support stops with PS4/PS4 games on PS5

I was thinking of purchasing the Octa for SF6 on PS5, now I'm unsure.. Also, that Juri mod looks so awesome!

I think the DualSense is better than the Octa, but you could always test the Octa out and return it 👍

@SirRaleigh Yeah, I really liked the dual sense during the beta but it would be nice to have a controller with 6 face buttons.

just a note for console players, the octa will work on new PS5 games, the razer raion will not. I hope they make a new razer raion model for PS5 where they just improve everything cause I'm anticipating using one of these controllers for SF6

Well, Razer recently made the Wolverine V2 Pro. It's like the V2 Chroma, but for ps5. I'm pretty sure you would like the dpad when you look at it👍

Word. A RAION 2 in the white/black stormtrooper colorway like the Razer “Wolverine V2 Pro”, with that huge 8-microswitch D-Pad on the top left, where it should be, just like this RAION.
