I agree- This was completed on HARD difficulty and was nearly impossible. I have no idea how these are completed on ultra hard

Video Game Sophistry it is not possible to do these trials on ultra hard. Damn it, I completed the hole base game including the hunting grounds plus all the dlc with the lovely fire claws and all on ultra hard difficulty but the hunting challenges and ikrie's challenge is just not ballanced with the ultra hard...

I personally think that the arenas should count at checkpoints. You can get to the third and last one, but if you get killed, you get sent all the way back to the beginning. I know it's being timed, but still.

Hey guys just use a full damage modded LODGE BLAST SLING and load up a triple fire arrow for the ravager should give you an easier time as it ONE shots watchers and 2-3 for the mediums.

This isn't a viable strategy. It takes too long to load multiple arrows. You can fire them MUCH faster one at a time. Keep in mind that partial draws don't affect damage, only accuracy, so as long as the shrinking circle aroujd your reticle is completely on the target (not overhanging the side or something,) you'll get a guaranteed hit at full-damage. With the DLC bows you don't get less damage for partial draws either, just extra damage for fully drawn shots, which isn't the same thing.

Get the 4-slot (NG+ variant) Striker bow and mod it for handling first, then damage/fire. Triple loading is insanely fast, just a double-tap of R1. It's what makes the Striker bow so OP, because you can triple load during a mad fight, without any difficulty. The bow is triple loaded literally as fast as you can do the double-tap. It's the only bow you can do this with. Plus you can buff the damage to very high levels as well as buffing burn. The only problem is the 4-slot NG+ variant requires a fireclaw heart to purchase, which means you cant get it till you've been through the volcano.

@@Martyntd5 Well you’re playing ng+ if you are using a 4mod slot bow. I am not in ng+ yet, but I saved my fireclaw heart and lens and hearts from other tough machines to use when I start ng+, so I won’t have to wait. Planning ahead! :) haha. Of course, that is if I play ng+. Idk yet, but I’m all prepped for it if I do (I’m at the end of my first playthrough atm).

Just did it on the Ultra Hard Difficulty... The only thing I did different was that I used the Icerail instead of the Shadow Sling, in order to freeze the Longlegs... But it's perfectly possible... Completed in 03:08! Thanks for the tips!!

On normal with the upgraded stormslinger (handling/damage mod and a shock/handling mod) i was able to do this trial in 2:22 thanks for the tip! I really hate this weapon but it worked great. Im terrible with slings so for the ravager i just lobbed a triple drawn tearblast arror at it's launchers and then used the stormslinger to finish him off worked like a charm

This helped out a lot I really slept on that storm slinger and to make it a bit faster you can skip the freeze entirely if you have the upgraded storm slinger. But it does eat through you echo shells and sparkers

I like how to machines are coming out of their spawn zones for you. They don’t do for me. I’d have to leave the area to kill then which fails the trail. This is such s stupid bug

I am soooo going to try that. Just hate that weapon for the damage it causes when fully charged.

Then customise a suit of armour that is buffed for shock/range/melee resist and dont forget you have elemental shield potions and 150% health boost potions. You can deliberately over-charge the stormslinger on the bigger bosses. I was really struggling, but I nailed this in just under 3 minutes on my first go once I changed strategy.

Wow you know I was thinking I should start using the storm slinger & especially as I have the improved one. Saw this helpful video and my god I carved through them all in like 1.5 mins lol It helps if you have the upgraded modded spear. If any watchers or long legs get up close to you, one hit and they are down. I even did one of the attack from above and KO'd a watcher haha. I think we can all learn from this as well. The Storm slinger is really useful lol

I absolutely hated this weapon when I first got it. The tutorial for it was miserable. But then this guy taught me the value in using a handling mod on it, and it became a whole different weapon!

,Got my platinum and this is the only one that is outstanding apart from a few side quests. My stormslinger is iffy at best. Gonna have to give this some thought. My setup is going to be improved forgefire, stormslinger, shadow blastsling, and blast tripwire. They are rated at 244, 134?, 128, and 344 respectively. Exceeding the 3:30 time limit fortunately means dying for the trial to reset without losing valuable ammunition. Forgefire works best on longlegs and ravager. Completed the trial on Hard and a time of 2:53 but 5 attempts to accomplish the feat. Doing NG+ on very hard now but no motivation to continue. Playing Forbidden West on Hard and getting ignitor at the moment. Peace.

Do the whole thing with the stormslinger, nothing else required. Customise a suit of armour that is buffed for shock/range/melee resist and dont forget you have elemental shield potions and 150% health boost potions. You can deliberately over-charge the stormslinger on the bigger bosses (frost claws, scorchers and bellowbacks). Just keep a close eye on your potions timer and be ready to re-buff as necessary. I was really struggling, but I nailed this in just under 3 minutes on my first go once I changed strategy. Oh and make sure you have a ton of sparkers because you will need to resupply the stormslinger with ammo at least once. I got platinum on the vanilla game in 2017 and did NG+ on UH at that time. Just now done the DLC as a refresh before playing Horizon 2. I'm 99.27% complete on the DLC and having a hell of a hard time trying to work out where that last 0.73% is to be found.

Oh and the improved Stormslinger is a different animal altogether. Mod it for handling, damage and shock in that order.

@Andrew No need to die. Press Options and restart to last save (save at the campfire before accepting the trial. Then abandon trial and restart it. You keep your ammo that way too! :)

Mmh, always 3:35 or 3:40 ... don't know if "hard" + "disabled assisted aim" is the problem. I had the problem that the ravager at the end ran away and I couldn't get him killed in time 😞Same happened with some dumb watcher, he just stayed away.

How the hell does your stormslinger shoot hella fast. Mine takes like 2 sec per shot. It took longer with it than arrows.

Yea I started with a lightning damage mod on it and then realised the weapon is more suited for damage than the status effect so I switched to a handling mod (58 percent I think) and it made all the difference in the world for firing speed. Hope it works for you

I couldn't hate the stormslinger weapon worse if I tried. It's a piece of shit that aims like shit and never lands it's blast. Plus, the machines are never running in that straight of a line for me. Those fuckers are bouncing all over the damn place constantly. Fuck these trials. I don't need that trophy that bad or the shitty weave they give you. Don't get me wrong tho, you did great. I just have no such luck with that weapon.
