Enjoyed your presentation on the Hornby 08. Obtained said model at the Paisley Model show today at an amazing price, due to the level of discount, being a paid up member of Rail Riders. This is my first Hornby and will see how it goes, before I consider any more. Will be fitting HM7000 with stay alive. Wish me luck. It was an nightmare doing the same to two Bachmann 08 specials.

hi, great video, back in my day the Triang 08 never had springs, consider yourself lucky, if it goes wrong its a brute to fix,but Triang one is easy.

Howard, well said, the 08s do take different liveries well. Iirc, the Hornby 08 is a great model, took it up a notch from the then industry standard, Bachmann's (with it's chunky coupling rods).

Have the Bachmann version myself in BR blue. Had a stay alive fitted to stop it stalling on points which was a good addition. Every layout needs an 08 shunter 👍

Still think the Hornby version is the best 08 on the market in 4 mm.

Strange livery choices from Hornby. Marketing need to be sat down and given lessons in sales. They could bring out several variations on blue, sector etc at once and sell out but instead they seem to go for small runs that have ltd appeal.
