We should send the youth to prison for 2 weeks as part of a scared straight program to help them see what its like. Then to work on a farm to see where food comes from. Then a luxury cruise for a week to see why they need to work hard and stay out of trouble.

I agree with you. Unfortunately, as is pointed out in the first half of the video, an innocent young man was also arrested and thrown in prison without a trial. I don't have a lot of sympathy for the violent gang members, but someone who has not committed any crime should not be there. I've heard that a lot of innocent men have been rounded up and imprisoned along with the gang members, and that's not right.

Democrat run sewers up in America that are soft on crime create unlivable environments for the common law abiding citizens. Oakland, CA has the distinction of losing all its professional teams plus the only In And Out hamburger joint to close up shop and leave. Major brand name chain stores are leaving cities with high crime due to shoplifting. People complain to the owners when they should be targeting the city leaders who allow it to happen.

In college I paid rent to sleep on the floor with five room mates. I paid to eat Rice-A-Roni three times per day. I had the choice to study or flunk out. I walked every where too poor to own a car. Was my life was easier than these gang bangers? Today, I reflect on those days as a good experience.

Prison should be a place you never want to end up. They met the goal. Prison should not be a comfortable place to go. They met the goal. Prison should not be run by the inmates. They met the goal. Prisoners should do as they are told and be submissive. They met the goal. I believe when/if someone leaves this prison they will not act in a way that they will go back. I believe young men who are thinking about joining a gang will think twice so they don't end up in prison. I believe the people living in the area's previously run by gangs will continue to vote for policies that will keep them safe. El Salvador is a country to be mimicked by others.

I was in El Salvador several times around 2001. This is a great documentary, but it is unfairly critical of Bukele, and cites the international community’s criticism of his harsh tactics and not providing due process for those arrested in connection to their ties to MS13. Nonetheless, his tactics have worked. In my opinion, when one wears the logos and slogans of a murderous gang, that is enough to tie them to the thousands of murders that they have committed. For those who think that Bukele’s tactics are inhumane and degrading, I remind them that the rapes of teenage girls and the brutal murders of innocent civilians were far more brutal and degrading than rounding up the criminals and their incarnations.
