Mr. Hippo is one of the most terrifying animatronics in Ultimate Custom Night due to the fact you can't skip his monologues when he kills you.

I think one of my favorite things about this game was when people tried to skip the Mr Hippo dialogue, they couldn’t…or if they exited the game to try and came back to skip it, Mr Hippo would start over again. I thought it was GENIUS. Like…there’s no avoiding the speech.

I grew up with FNAF, and I always wondered how they'd sound. Mangle, Puppet, and Lefty all sound super accurate in my opinion

The importance of Mr. Hippo, aside from the comedic aspect of his long-winded seemingly irrelevant stories, is that he is a sort of mouth for the creater, Scott Cawthon, to speak to the player. The original Five Nights at Freddy's was not created with much of a story in mind, but the little Easter eggs he planted in the game are one of the reasons it became so popular. Since then, the lore had spiraled out of control as Scott had tried to end the story after FNAF 3, FNAF 4, and then for a third time after Pizza Simulator and Ultimate Custom Night. With each new game, the lore became more complicated, and the expectations of the Fandom became greater. Through Mr. Hippo, Scott explains that he didn't have a big story to tell in the beginning, and that he made it out to be more than it was, like Mr. Hippo regretting telling Orville he had a story to tell when really he just wanted talk. Mr. Hippo also speaks about how easy it is to make too big a deal out of something, and repeats the lines "Sometimes a story is just a story," and "Maybe it means nothing at all." Scott appears to have regretted making such a big deal out of the story of FNAF, and the heavy expectations that came with it, when all he wanted in the beginning was to make video games that brought people joy. Everyone keeps wanting to feed the birds bread, but Mr. Hippo repeatedly remarks that the birds are already dead. Well, that's my interpretation anyway. Obviously FNAF is still alive and well, but Scott has taken an increasingly smaller role in the franchise, and MatPat and other theorists have to perform Olympic-level mental gymnastics to try to get all the pieces of the story to fit together. It is fun to find meaning in all the chaos, of course, but maybe it doesn't mean anything at all.

Most disturbing ones to me were Mangle, Withered Chica, Nightmare Fredbear, and Nightmare. The fact that the Puppet is the only one that sounds even remotely still human was a nice touch too though.

I love Mangle's voice. Her AR voice lines show how both the heads display distinctly different personalities and that alone made her the most interesting animatronic to me. I suggest you check them out. Ozone has a great character analysis of her.

CONTEXT & FUN FACTS: -*All* of these voice lines are spoken by animatronics after they kill you, save for a select few. However, most of these characters didn't have voices until UCN, so hearing how they sound back _then_ was fucking MAGIC. -*Foxy's* main UCN mechanic is that, if you don't look at him often enough (i think), he pulls himself apart and rebuilds himself in your office before killing you -*Toy Freddy's* is that he's a gamer. You have to help him play "Five Nights at Mr. Hugs," and if he loses, you're dead! (Mr. Hugs being the vacuum cleaner character in Trash & The Gang from Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, or FFPS) -*Toy Chica's* "you won't get tired of..." lines are in reference to a gag from FNAF World Update 2, wherein Toy Chica repeats the line "You won't get tired of my voice, will you?" in a shrill and oftentimes-annoying voice. -*Nightmarionne's* voice actor, Aleks Le, voices Zenitsu in Demon Slayer, and is going on to voice Vivia Twilight in Rain Code and (as you pointed out) Makoto Yuki in Persona 3 ReLoaded! -*Nightmarionne* and *Nightmare Balloon Boy* are also from FNAF 4 Halloween Update, although the video incorrectly labels them as being in base FNAF 4 -*Funtime Foxy's* UCN mechanic is that you need to look at the sign in front of their stage. That sign tells you about "Showtime," i.e. what time in gameplay you need to look at their camera. If you do _not_ look at their camera at Showtime, they will _immediately_ kill you. -No. 1 Crate is from *Trash & the Gang,* whose mechanic in UCN is that they'll whisper to you, being very quiet, and then blast the LOUDEST airhorns of your LIFE into your ears, which raises the Noise Meter. They don't kill you, but the definitely do help someone _else_ do so. -*Rockstar Freddy's* mechanic in UCN is that he stays in your office at all times, and will randomly activate, asking for five coins. In UCN, there exist Faz-Coins you can collect on the cameras. If you do not give him five of them fast enough, he WILL kill you. I'm pretty sure that heaters work to stop him, though. I forgot, truthfully. -*Rockstar Bonnie* will come into your office asking you to find his guitar on the cameras. If this isn't done fast enough, he kills you. -Comically, *Rockstar Chica's* mechanic is that, depending on what door she appears in, you'll need to put a wet floor sign don on that side. For some reason, the wet floor sign will stop her from coming in. -*Rockstar Foxy* is an ally in this game, most of the time. His parrot will fly across the screen, and if you click on him, Rockstar Foxy will appear with various perks that you can buy with Faz-Coins. Sometimes, though, he'll just kill you. -*Music Man* sleeps in the office, unseen to the player. If the Noise Meter is built up too much, well... he'll kill you! -*Funtime Chica* appears as a random distraction that does nothing to harm the player. I believe there's a camera flash effect when she appears, so I suppose that's a fair amount of distraction from her. -*Scrap Baby* also sits in the office. She will occasionally move. If you see her do so, you give her a controlled shock. Fail to do this, and you guessed it: death! -Additionally, the "you won't die" line is in reference to the phrase Circus Baby repeated to Michael in the time between upchucking Ennard into the sewers and coming back to life as a purple skin suit. "You won't die..." over and over again in Michael's head... -*Lefty's* voice in the Interview series, from what little I've seen of it, is entirely repurposed from Lefty and The Puppet's dialogue in this game. -In the original FFPS, *Lefty's* only voice line was a simple "shhhhhh," with no dialogue at all. -*"Scraptrap"* is a fanmade name for the character William Afton, whose name was changed back from Springtrap after FNAF 3. In my opinion, to avoid confusion between him, the alive human William, and Springtrap, we should call him Salvage. -*The Mediocre Melodies* (Happy Frog, Orville Elephant, etc.) all have voice lines that feature a character known as "Vengeful Spirit" in the initial UCN casting call. Said spirit can be heard faintly whispering behind them in certain lines of dialogue that make it clear that they're pulling the strings. Some assumptions can be made about how this spirit is "the one you should not have killed" -Given that the vengeful spirit only has one voice actor, as well as "the _one_ you should not have killed" being a repeated line, most people tend to believe that it's exclusively _one_ dead kid behind UCN, not all the kids as a whole. -*Orville Elephant* and Vengeful Spirit's line "no matter how many times they burn us" is in reference to the fact that, timeline-wise, UCN is coming right off the heels of FFPS. The FFPS ending involves Henry burning the building to the ground with everything and everyone inside. -Yes, *Mr. Hippo's* whole gimmick is that he's a rambling old man. If you try to close and re-open your game after dying to Mr. Hippo, you'll simply re-start his ramblings. Truly, there's no way to avoid Death by Mr. Hippo Dialogue. -*Dee-Dee* is a character from FNAF World, being the "host" of the fishing minigames. Her inclusion in the game is... as an absolute troll, to say the least. In-game, she can randomly appear to bring new characters into your session. If your session already has the full 50-character roster active, well... she has a special roster she can pull from.

Lore wise custom night is actually relevant. It’s the reason William Afton doesn’t die in fnaf6. And how he was able to keep ticking and end up in the VR game. Because his spirit was essentially being held hostage by “the one he should not have killed.” Which is what custom night is. As to what your thoughts were at the end of the video. You’re pretty much correct. But it’s only ONE child that’s in charge of custom night: the rest were exorcised by Michael Afton. But this particular spirit refused to move on.

So, this game is part of the lore! The voice whispering is Cassidy, the one that William Afton killed viciously and then stuffed into the Golden Freddy's suit! After Five Nights at Freddy's Pizzeria Simulator, Cassidy kept Afton alive to relieve his horrors. Cassidy is "The one you should not have killed" That's said by a bunch of animatronics. The kid voice behind the Happy Frog, Ned Bear and Orville the Elephant is Cassidy talking!

Just for you to know, the mediocre melodies' strangely sinister lines is "the one you should not have killed" speaking behind them, using their voice.

I love Mr. Hippo so much. He talks a lot and his stories are always entertaining. Also, he's a mouth piece of telling people not to take everything in the games seriously and not to take everything into account...which MatPat had a fun time realizing that...

Fun fact: Lefty is actually the Puppet. When Henry built the Pizzeria sim location to lure back the animatronics, he created Lefty to find the puppet (AKA. Henry’s daughter, Charlie), capture her and then return to the pizzeria As you could probably tell from Lefty’s voice lines, Charlie did not like being trapped inside of Lefty, which is why Lefty is so aggressive in Pizza sim. It’s Charlie possessing Lefty and lashing out.

Mr. Hippo definitely reminds me of my Granny who sadly passed away in 2019. As a small child, I would sleepover at her house and she would tell me stories about her time in the army, her friends and what they meant to her, about my mom (her daughter) and anything to get me to sleep but I was an undiagnosed ADHD 5 year old so I begged her to tell me another story. She also had the same charm as Mr. Hippo did; kind, talkative, has done bad things but also doesn't let that ruin their life; plus, she made some killer iced sweet tea! I miss her a lot so hearing Mr. Hippo talk reminds me of her and how I gained my talkative personality like I just did now. Some may hate Mr. Hippo's stories but to some, it's a reminder to their grandparents (if they have grandparents like my granny who loved me and my family dearly) P.S. tell a cherished grandparent that you want to hear about their life and the stories they have to tell. It's a bonding experience and relieves the loved one that their tales will live on after they pass away. Thank you!

It's feels like forever ago that I heard these for the first time.

Most of the lore in UCN is behind these voice lines which you get after you lose in the game (which will happen a lot) as well as the cutscenes you get after reaching certain high score requirements. The cutscenes are a bit…out there…but definitely worth a lot at them

One thing you don’t get in the UCN voices you do in the Special Delivery lines is that Mangle’s two heads are actually two consciousnesses. For years Mangle’s gender was a question being referred to as he and she even in the same sentence, but the split consciousnesses thing helps explain that. Tbh the voice lines are extremely cool in Special Delivery since you get things like the head with the mask on saying “How I yearn for the days at the Kids Cove” which is where mangle got torn apart and thrown aside in FNaF 2 only for the endo head to immediately respond with “No, never ever, never ever never.” If you get the chance you should listen to the voice lines from Special Delivery since some characters got new ones and some characters got their first lines in the series like Freddy Fazbear himself.

Aleks Le has also done voice work for some visual novels(specifically otome games) that I love, so it's always hype to see other facets of his work. Dude's talented AF.

The whole point of UCN is that it's William's eternal suffering, getting attacked by everyone he hurt over and over forever. And Cassidy is the one that set him in this loop.

The reason Lefty sounds similar to "An Interview With Lefty" (What I assume you're referring to) is because the creator, J-Gems, used these exact voicelines from both the puppet and Lefty as Lefty's voicelines, and an actual voice-actor for Lefty was only used in the sequel videos such as "An Interview with Foxy"

As someone who listens to Mr. Hippo's stories (not a joke), I find it interesting and think he should create unique stories instead of repeating the same thing over and over again

For Happy Frog, Ned Bear, and Orvill Elephant, the creepy voice line is Cassidy, one of Williams victims that possess Golden Freddy, who kept him in UCN, which resulted in William being in help wanted, and Cassidy being the princess.

All of these voicelines are from Ultimate Custom Night and they play once you get killed by the animatronics. You play as William Afton so they’re speaking to him. The whisper speaking behind the mediocre melodies is the vengeful spirit (Cassidy).

All of Mr Hippos stories alway have a melancholy ending to them if you noticed. All of them make you think about the game itself pretty much Mr Hippo is saying, "What's the point in looking into a game that has a story that would never be completed and the story would always change". Saying its meaningless to look at the story and just play the games. Very melancholy which is the point.

There is actually a Balloon Girl known as JJ in the top right of UCN's menu, in FNAF 2 she'd sometimes appear under your desk. But this is actually DeeDee, a Balloon Boy variant from cutesy spinoff FNAF World.

And of course, plenty of the voicelines simply give good character building and small hints of the lore. 6:26 Yes, at least in the 8-bit minigames, we play as The crying child (no official name), who's William's younger son. In the main game, it's still unclear who we play as. 10:42 FFPS stands for Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator. Basically FNAF 6. No. 1 crate is part of a group of joke "animatronics". Trash and the gang. In UCN, they whisper to you before giving you a small, annoying jumpscare, not killing you. There are some other distraction charactes too. Rockstar Freddy in UCN asks for 5 coins, or he jumpscares you. Alternatively you can turn up the heat to make him malfuction. Rockstar Foxy can help you if you catch his bird, but sometimes he just kills you. You win some, you lose some. 15:56 The person whispering in the background is The one you shouldn't have killed.
